Why is FOX so Tone Deaf with Sci Fi Series?

This is the network that brain dead canceled Firefly years ago, Terra Nova, and now Second Chance.

I think that there is a good market for sifting through FOXes cast offs for hit series.

Are there any more series they cancelled in such a stupid way that I am unaware of?

FOX has been doing this for a long time. I remember when they cancelled Family Guy years ago, but brought it back due to DVD sales. Now it's a popular long running series.

Arrested Development was one of the best comedies on TV and was cancelled after three seasons, only to be revived for a fourth season on Netflix.

Nowadays TV networks don't give any time at all for a series to gain a viewing audience before pulling the plug. They expect immediate ratings.
