Why I'm not a socialist (don't gloat, conservatives)

Except once the oil industry failed...the workers were on their own
What would capitalists have done to help the people?

all industries fail in time thanks to progress, obviously. Then, capitalism creates new industries and new jobs to replace them, obviously!! Any more genius questions? Ask yourself , do you really want to be a liberal all your life?

dear, Capitalism's natural rate of unemployment is what socialism is correcting for, with unemployment compensation on an at-will basis in our at-will employment States.

How would capitalists have taken care of those people?

by creating 120 million high paying jobs for them, obviously!!!
Good answer

Except once the oil industry failed...the workers were on their own
What would capitalists have done to help the people?

obviously invent fracking, horizontal drilling, wind, solar, electric cars, etc. to provide them new jobs. Notice how the obvious escapes the liberal mind and a conservative always ends up running a kindergarden for liberals who lack the IQ to graduate?

Doesn't even come close to answering the question

If Venezuela is such a disaster for the people. How would they have fared better under capitalists? Once the oil industry collapsed, would the capitalists have taken care of the people of Venezuela?

Again you come back with fantasy economics. Venezuela had plenty of oil...its just that its value dropped by more than half. They didn't need solar or wind or fracking.....they had plenty of fuel
Only its economic value plummeted

Because the government spent the oil revenues and underinvested in oil infrastructure, their output in dollars suffered a much larger drop than seen in the price alone.

yeah he grew up and suddenly wants to keep what he's earned. If he were to quit working tomorrow, he would be on a worthless entitlement whore again.

Capitalism rocks.

Even socialists know they need capitalism to survive.
Not true. The difference between socialism and capitalism is in the ownership of the means of production. Having a system based on social ownership is not at all dependent on private ownership.

Yes, based on private ownership of the means of production and their operation for profit.

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs" provides no incentive toward individual effort, since any such profit is largely absorbed by the state for redistribution, and thereby reducing itself the very profit it seeks.
Why do you think people would not want to improve their conditions only because it would improve the conditions for everyone?

If I were working under such a system, and the salary for four of the eight hours I worked went to pay for others not working, I would not work.

I'd get the EBT card and eat lobster. Wouldn't you?
and that is exactly what many do.

I can't tell you how many families I have witnessed who choose to work less because their quality of life improves exponentially thanks to subsidies, food stamps and other programs that they are rewarded with for quitting/not working. I THINK OF IT EVERY DAY. The only reason I work lil I do is so my kids will see it and so they will learn there is value in WORKING. Not just in money.

Worked out great while oil was over $100 a barrel.......not so great when it dropped under $50
Venezuela's problem was that their economy was not diversified

Can you explain how their people would have done better under capitalism?
How would capitalists have treated the Venezuelan workers once the price of oil dropped?

A capitalist run oil industry would have done a better job ensuring the oil would keep flowing.
Short sighted socialist control meant handouts, instead of maintenance.
Works for a little while fails in the long run.

How would capitalists have treated the Venezuelan workers once the price of oil dropped?

Capitalism is always experimenting. Try something, if it works, if it's profitable, more will try it.
If it fails, try something else.
With socialism, you're left with killing the greedy kulaks, eh comrade?

I hear they'll be forcing their people into the fields soon.

Yeah, socialism sucks at pretty much everything.

No, it doesn't. The US has the best form of socialism in the entire world.

A valiant effort but a failure nonetheless

Venezuela does not have a problem with not enough oil, they have a problem with an oil market that crashed
Now, you know as well as I, that a capitalist solution to such a problem would be to send their workers packing and not care what happens to them

How is the socialist solution to such a problem helping their workers?
Still can't get enough toilet paper in their socialist paradise.

under capitalism the people would have had free market jobs and the price of oil would not matter much.
