The Trump era will go down in history as the era when Republicans double-crossed and betrayed America. Even long term Republicans of note speak of this betrayal openly. Republican and American values have been tossed aside.

Is the Republican betrayal of America a permanent fixture in Republican politics or will it end when Trump is removed from influence in American politics?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO!
R's doubled crossed the US? Trump is the most patriotic president we;ve had in decades!

The answer to that is simple, the boomers are trying to take it all with them when they die. Not even joking. The most entitled and cowardly generation of Americans ever were the first to come right out and say: I don't care if our descendants have it far worse than we did.

President Trump is obviously a patriot and under his leadership the U.S. economy has jumped 48% in his first two years in office. What the hell are the "American values" that the left claims to advocate, maybe something like killing newborn babies, disrespecting the Flag, assaulting people who have a different political view and opening borders to illegal criminals?

Don't forget about infanticide.

The answer to the OP is simple. It’s about winning elections first and foremost. The GOP did not care how they won as long as they did. It just happened it was accomplished using a reality show shock jock who too many people underestimated. As a result the party is torn between Trump apologists and traditional republican moderates and conservatives. The shock jock schtick is going to work as long as the economy doesn’t nosedive.

I was right, they did start acting like Democrats. Bastards!

You guys still don't get the difference between "populists" and "globalists".
Populists bring factories and jobs back to the US. They use tariffs wisely. They keep the US economy thriving and peoples 401Ks rising.
Globalists are bought by Wall Street and K-Street, they allow factories to move overseas without trying to keep them here, they don't notice when other countries punish US companies with unfair trade practices and unfair tariffs. They let China subsidize steel and aluminum producers and "dump" metals killing US companies.

Here is what a "globalist" looks like:
