The technology is out there, it works, it only increases the cost of the car by 1500$ You can run salt water through it. Seperates hydrogen and oxygen from water on demand. Entire cell is slightly bigger then a large battery.

Why dont we have this in every car being sold???

Corrupt failed federal government is why. We can put ourselves 15 trillion in debt for war, but we cant figure out how to get off fossil fuels, even when the answer covers 70% of the earth.

It's called lack of demand coupled with an unsure technology... why do you think all these green companies are failing daily?

The sole purpose of your government is not to keep you safe and secure, or to protect your liberties and your freedom. The government doesnt exist to promote equality, it doesnt exist to advance our civilization either.

Maybe one day it did, but not today. Today your government exists just to keep things exactly the way they are. Total corruption enabled by total apathy.

Lack of demand.

Wow, I never would have guessed that one. I spend 60$ a month on gas, how much do you spend?

What...you never saw that bit where all these guys meet at the Pearly Gates and ask each other how they got there? One guy invented a car that runs on water, one guy developed a fuel cell that runs on methane, etc...

It's really very simple. We currently do not have the Technology to efficiently Collect Hydrogen Fuel from Water. We can do it, but with Current tech it takes more energy to Produce Hydrogen in large amounts, than you will ever get out of burning the Fuel you get from it.

So it is a very Green fuel, But currently not a very Cost Effective one. Anyone using a converted Hydrogen Car and telling themselves they are helping the environment, should wake up to the fact that a Massive amount of Fossil Fuels had to be burnt to produce electricity that was used to separate Hydrogen from Water so they could feel good driving a supposedly green Fueled car.

A lot more than that.... probaly $60/week... but I get to bill most of it back to clients. The point is how many hybrids are being sold? I'm probably going retire my Mercury Marquis in favor of a Chevy Suburban... I wanna carbon footprint like Godzilla.

The Truth About Water-Powered Cars: Mechanic's Diary - Popular Mechanics

Here's the deal, people: There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.

There is energy in water. Chemically, it's locked up in the atomic bonds between the hydrogen and oxygen atoms. When the hydrogen and oxygen combine, whether it's in a fuel cell, internal combustion engine running on hydrogen, or a jury-rigged pickup truck with an electrolysis cell in the bed, there's energy left over in the form of heat or electrons. That's converted to mechanical energy by the pistons and crankshaft or electrical motors to move the vehicle.

Problem: It takes exactly the same amount of energy to pry those hydrogen and oxygen atoms apart inside the electrolysis cell as you get back when they recombine inside the fuel cell. The laws of thermodynamics haven't changed, in spite of any hype you read on some blog or news aggregator. Subtract the losses to heat in the engine and alternator and electrolysis cell, and you're losing energy, not gaining it--period.

I am amazed that you realize that the governments main purpose is to protect and support the corporations.

Think about who the big loser would be if we had a cheap car that would run on water.

Really, this video shows you how to make a hyrdogen cell out of copper tubes. It would take me about 10 hours of work to build that.

If you think it works, then why dont you do it?

Why do you expect someone else to?

dont you think if this actually worked and the govenrment was covering it up that every video of this thing would have been crubbed and the posters jailed or silenced?

It would revolutionise energy across the globe. Homes could be heated off water, water could run power plants. The side effect would be more rain, and more drinking water.

Wall street is the problem. There is no profits to be made in renewable energy. No taxes to be collected. God forbid the GDP decrease the entire financial system would collapse.

No, you can't blame this on corrupt government. Blame it on bad science. Read the link below.

Umm it takes energy to extract the hydrogen from water.

why not just take an electric motor hook it to a generator spin it up and have the generator run the motor?

Hint I know the answer.

Hydrogen Electrolysis - 1 Part 1 - YouTube

you DO realize he's not running his car on that, right? He is using the vapors produced to mix with the fuel in the engine, to burn it more efficiently. This is NOT a cell that you can run a car on completely, fossil fuels are still used for 99.9% of the work.

Water supplies may run out by 2030
Wednesday 11th January, 2012 - Water supplies will begin running out in critical regions where they support cities, industries and food production -- including in India, China and the Middle East -- by 2030 due to over-extraction of groundwater, a scientist has warned.
'The world has experienced a boom in groundwater use, more than doubling the rate of extraction between 1960 and 2000 -- with usage continuing to soar up to the present,' says Craig Simmons, director of the National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training (NCGRT). A recent satellite study has revealed falling groundwater tables in the US, India, China, Middle East and North Africa, where expanding agriculture and cities have increased water demand. 'Groundwater currently makes up about 97 percent of all the available fresh water on the planet and presently accounts for about 40 percent of our total water supply,' says Simmons, also a member of Unesco's global groundwater governance programme, according to a NCGRT statement.

'Not many people think of groundwater as a key driver of the global economy -- yet it is. If it becomes depleted, entire industries may be forced to shut down or move. Whole regions could face acute water scarcity.' 'Over-extraction also has serious implications for the environment, especially when the climate is warming -- as falling water tables can lead to emptying lakes and rivers and dying landscapes as the water they depended on is withdrawn,' Simmons says.

In the Middle East, depleted aquifers have been a major driver of the relocation of agriculture to Africa and the so-called 'land grab' by wealthy countries. Even advanced nations such as the United States face a crisis in their use of groundwater, says Robert Glennon, law professor at the University of Arizona. 'Groundwater now comprises one-quarter of the US supply and more than half of all Americans rely on groundwater for drinking. Unconstrained drilling of new wells, as many as 800,000 per year, has put incredible strain on aquifers around the US,' he says.

Doomsday Clock Moves Forward
Wednesday 11th January, 2012 - A group of prominent international scientists say the inability of world leaders to make progress on nuclear weapons reduction and proliferation, and continued inaction on climate change, has led them to move the hands of the Doomsday Clock one minute closer to midnight - the hour that symbolizes possible global destruction.
Efforts to rid the world of nuclear weapons continue to meet obstacles, and that is one main reason why the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists moved the Doomsday Clock forward to five minutes to midnight. "Today with the clear and present dangers of nuclear proliferation, climate change and the continued challenge to find new and sustainable and safe sources of energy, business as usual reigns the norm among world leaders," announced Lawrence Krauss, co-chair of the group's board of sponsors.

Two years ago, hopes of nuclear cooperation between the U.S. and Russia, and the election of President Barack Obama, inspired the group to move the clock one minute back to six minutes until midnight. Now, that hope has been replaced by uncertainty. "At a time when there are going to be elections in the United States, in Russia, in France and a change of leadership in China, there is some uncertainty therefore about the nuclear weapon programs of these countries and the policies that the new leadership will follow," said Jayantha Dhanapala of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists.

Robert Socolow, a member of the group's science and security board, urged world leaders to look to science for answers. "The world is in a pickle," he warned. "Many people want to live better than they live now on a planet of finite size, not as large as we wish it were. And we have challenges to our atmosphere, to our forests, to our oceans, to our political systems, to our values." Still, the group noted that the Arab Spring and other efforts by citizens around the globe to let their voices be heard were positive developments. Whether it is in New York or Russia, the group says people power is essential to face the world's wide range of challenges.

Severe Drought, Wildfires Threaten Water Resources
January 11, 2012 - Scientists say severe, prolonged drought and soaring temperatures were major factors in the wildfires that destroyed thousands of hectares of forest and woodlands in the western United States last year. They predict those conditions might continue to threaten both the region's forests and its scarce water resources.
Now a team of scientists in New Mexico's Valles Caldera National Preserve is trying to restore the damaged forest land. They're also trying to find ways to conserve water in a region that climate change is making increasingly dry. This is Valles Caldera. Actually, it's the giant mouth of a dormant super volcano that last erupted 40,000 years ago. In the millennia since then, the terrain developed high-elevation forests, of abundant water sources and a rich ecosystem. Today it's a national preserve. But last year, over 32,000 hectares of forest in Valles Caldera, as well as in several other states of the American southwest, were consumed by the worst wild fires in a century.

"This burned 43,000 acres [17,000 hectares] in 14 hours. To give you a kind of visual on that, a football field with both end zones and bench areas, burns in 2 seconds," noted Bob Parmenter, chief scientist at Valles Caldera National Preserve. Parmenter says there are several reasons for that kind of fire: shorter winters with less snow pack along the Rocky Mountains, where many rivers in the American west originate, as well as longer and warmer summers with less rain. David Brown, a regional climate director for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), says drought is putting heavy stress on water resources. "One of the most severe droughts in the last 100 years is playing out right now in the southwest," said Brown.

As a result, more than a hundred scientists are working in Valles Caldera in a bid to restore ecological balance to the region, through reforestation and water conservation. The challenges are huge. A study by the U.S. Geological Survey revealed a 30 to 60 percent decline in the Rocky Mountain snow pack. Gregory Pederson, a climate scientist for USGS, participated in the study. "All the water resources we need to support the societies and ecosystems comes primarily from snow. For this neck of the world, most of the water comes from snow pack, 60 to 80 percent," said Pederson. Data from the last several decades indicate that rivers like the Jemez River have lost 40 percent of their waters.

Trees play an important role in water preservation, says Bob Parmenter of the Valles Caldera National Preserve: "The conservative estimate here is that the shading alone increases snow water storage up to 22 percent. As we manage this forest, we can hopefully keep water in the streams as the climate continues to change," added Parmenter. Parmenter and his team say restoring the forest and the ecosystem in these mountains will help ensure that the region's water resources will survive future droughts and climate change. The team has begun thinning this forest so wildfires become less likely.
