There are no Israeli checkpoints within Gaza. Israel is under no obligation to permit foreign nationals into Israel. Same as every. other. nation. in. the. world. There is nothing unusual about this. Same as me crossing from Canada to the US. Gazans are able to travel to both Israel or Egypt, with permission of the relevant border patrols. (Ironically, it is apparently FAR easier to get permission to enter Israel than it is to enter Egypt.)

Gaza EXPORTS a surplus of fruits and vegetables. Gaza also has a border with Egypt, through which imports and exports can be traded. No nation is obligated to provide goods and services to another.

Also, a not-so-very small point: trade relations with other nations tend to be MUCH better when you are not slaughtering their children.

Israel supplies (in relative peace time) about 7% of Gaza's water and about 50% of Gaza's electricity. The rest is produced IN Gaza. Gaza has an aquifer which is badly damaged through the actions of the government and people of Gaza. A desalination plant operates to create potable water. Gaza's water infrastructure is poor, due to lack of maintenance and due to the people of Gaza digging up water pipes to make rockets.

Actually, there have been many plans over decades for Gaza to build a port. Gaza should have a port. It would be beneficial to the region in all sorts of ways. But the government and people keep stealing both the funds and the supplies to build tunnels, rockets, and other weapons.

You know how Gaza gets a port? Just. stop. attacking. Israel.

Gaza fishermen are limited to a specific fishing zone because the people of Gaza keep using the sea as a means to import weapons into Gaza.


Facts matter. The very first step in the process of a peace agreement between Gaza and Israel is to stop fucking lying. We can't even get near solutions when we aren't working with real facts.

The way to peace, obviously, is to stop the belligerence. When you are given pipes for water or for weapons, FFS, choose water.

Salt water infusion into the coastal aquifer has been a problem as far back as the 1950s. Its been studied extensively. Plus, there's heavy metals and ecoli. Years of dumping raw sewage hasn't helped either. The water table of the whole Jordan Basin is compromised and lowered by use of existing ground water.
