In terms of spending, you either spend an amount sufficient to getting the job done, or you close the embassy. But that's not all there is to it. There are other preventatives. In Libya, those guys shouldn't have been in Benghazi. That facility wasn't safe. And it was particularly not safe on 9/11. And Egypt shouldn't have happened either. The host country should've made it plain to would-be protesters that harassment of the embassy wouldn't be tolerated. That should have already been discussed, along with repercussions for failing to get it done with the Egyptian government. We give these people over a billion dollars per year. If they aren't using that money to create order, what the fuck are they doing with it?
