why did the USSR collapse?

Same reason the British Empire Collapsed.

Eventually, all empires collapse. Because the imperial nation gets tired of ruling and the subject people get tired of being ruled.

To say the USSR collapsed because of "Communism' is just as foolish as saying the British Empire collapsed because of Capitalism.
That is a gross generalization and not really correct.

yup....200-250 years .....nothing to get nervous about!

Besides most empires never really "notice" their fall, the SU is an exception.

do you think it's more of a financial issue?

Nope, not at all. Let's be straight up about the sequence of events. Various countries in the USSR declared independence and autonomy because they wanted to rule themselves, not because of economic reasons. Most of these countries became POORER after leaving the USSR.

The real problem is that you had 150 Million Russians trying to control 300 million non-Russians in the USSR and Warsaw Pact countries, and they got fed up with it.
Those countries could only leave because of the economic collapse of USSR.

The real reason?

Communism economics are a failure and couldn't support the enormous defense retirements of the Soviets. Communism can't even feed the people no less provide trillions for the military.

Reagan, Kohl and Thatcher all stood firm against the Liberal 'Peace at any Cost' movement and deployed the Pershing II missiles in Europe. The Soviets were looking at having to spend a tremendous amount more to counter the Pershings. Not sustainable and that caused the more militant Communists Soviet leaders to be weak against the economic reform Capitalist Russians.

And none of those things individually or collectively, Natural Citizen, are heading to internal economic collapse.

You are right that our economy is not capitalistic: it is fascist central government-business planning.
It is capitalistic in the sense that the government-business partnership exists to increase private profit, the hallmark of capitalism.
That partnership, politically, is fascistic.

Absolutely.

The common misconception is that fascism is linked to socialism. It is just not true. The proto-fascism found in the US is capitalistic.

Um, so we spent ourselves into bankruptcy to get them to spend themselves into bankruptcy....

this makes sense to you somehow.

Actually we aren't in bankruptcy yet even after that piece of worthless shit Obama added $10 trillion to the cumulative debt.

But yes the Soviets went bankrupted trying to compete against the West in military. The Pershing II missile deployment was the straw that broke the camel's back. The Soviets were going to have to invest billion to counter the missiles and they had run out of money.

Communism is an economic failure. Socialism is a failure. We have seen that in post WWII where the more capitalist US economy ha had twice the average economic growth as the more socialist European welfare states.

I know you stupid Moon Bats really think it will succeed here in the US if we just give it a chance but you are idiots. It will only be viable until the money made under capitalism runs out.
