Why are Republicans being blamed for this shutdown?

What do you mean "why are the republicans being blamed?" They're the ones holding jobs hostage in exchange for sabotaging Obamacare

You are the ones who HELD (past tense) this government hostage for this healthcare bill of yours. :p

Next.

Okay...the next time Republicans pass a bill we don't like we'll just refuse to pass a budget until it's repealed....apparently that's how Republicans want DC to operate from now on.

Go right ahead. See how that works out for you.
Oh wait, that's what the Democrats are doing now.

Its not a bill jackass. You know when a bill gets passed by both houses and signed it becomes a law.

It call it a bill because only democrats passed it. Only one half of Congress voted for it. Care to call me a jackass again, Dutch? To me it isn't a law because it was forced on me against my will.

You're a whiny jackass, aren't you? It's the law of the land. That you don't like it doesn't change the fact that it was passed by both houses of congress and signed by the president. That's called a 'law'. Go watch School House Rocks.

As to the op; Republicans are being blamed because they are the ones who refused to pass a clean CR. They were told by the senate and the WH that neither one would play their game. The house wanted this; they got it. Now reap the rewards, assholes.

The Republicans are being blamed for the shutdown because normal America can see that the Republicans caused it,

crazy rightwing propaganda to the contrary notwithstanding.

As with every political issue, there is always the truth vs. some concocted rightwing myth that makes the right feel better.

Government shutdowns from 20-40 years ago are not really relevant. Public opinion doesn't last that long. There are millions of voters today who don't even remember the last shutdown.

I'm not attempting to make an argument about who's "fault" it really is, now or then. I'm talking about public opinion.

And this time, public opinion is decidedly against you guys.

Well then if you want to talk about public opinion:

Why do most of the American public disagree with Obamacare then?

Cause it's a shitty law.

But the republicans are betting everything on that public dislike of Obamacare being more important issue in the average American's mind - which is almost certainly a bet that they're going to lose.

Do you really think that the average American is going to dislike Obamacare more than they're going dislike a government shutdown?

Hmmm. Just like Obama and the Dems bet everything on shoving through ACA rather than focusing on the economy a few years back.

They can witness the law's impact firsthand today as the exchanges take place. When the impact reaches their wallet and has them sitting on their sofa instead of in a cubicle at work, then you will get an answer to your question.

Actually, that's gonna be a really big problem for Republicans.

The exchanges aren't the part of Obamacare that people don't like. Those (The mandates and fines) won't come into play until the end of the year, or a few years down the road.

The exchanges are going to be net positive, in terms of public opinion of Obamacare.

Uh, yeah for many that is exactly what they have a problem with. Why? Because they are government run exchanges. And all the people who just lost their individual insurance plans and are now forced onto government run exchanges? You bet your sweet bippy they have a problem with that.

What part of 'the government has no business running this, taking over 1/6 of the economy' do people not understand?

The history of government shut downs is irrelevant.

The right has framed this debate entirely on Obamacare, betting everything on people agreeing with the party line fear of Obamacare being the single most important issue in the country.

People are blaming republicans because they've owned it already. Republicans have made it clear that destroying Obamacare is more important than the government continuing to function.

It is relevant Doc!

Where have you been the past 37 years? Is a "law" more important than funding the government? It appears this question applies to both sides, not just Republicans.

Incorrect.

This is a GOP government shutdown because the Senate sent the House a clean CR, and it’s republicans who want to clutter the CR with irrelevant nonsense concerning the ACA, Federal law in place for three years.

House republicans are at liberty to revisit the Act after the government is funded if they so desire.

They have been trying to get bills passed in the House that would correct many things in the law.
Harry Reid has been sitting on them for the last three years.

Why is it that Businesses get a year reprieve and the rest of us don't?
That's not fair.
There are a lot of bugs that need to be worked out on the Health Care.
It was a very reasonable compromise but Harry Reid would not budge.

The Republicans aren't interested in fixing the bugs.

The REpublicans want to go back to having 46 million uninsured and allowing insurance companies to cheat their clients.

If the Republican reforms are valid, then argue their validity in a separate, CLEAN bill. Holding the entire economy hostage if they don't get their way isn't the way to go about it.

Well SMART America sees that Obama could have stopped this from happening. He was getting everything he wanted to keep the country going....but refused to negotiate over his failure of a healthcare law. ONE THING kept him from keeping the government running. He's a fool, and you're all fools for letting him get away with it. He is to blame, doesn't matter how you spin it.

If you don't believe me, believe the American people:

Americans overwhelmingly oppose shutting down government to stop Obamacare, according to a new poll on Tuesday, with Republicans in Congress getting their lowest approval marks to date.

Americans were against a government shutdown as a way to stop the president’s health care law from taking effect 72 percent to 22 percent in a Quinnipiac poll. The more than three-to-one ratio was despite a near even split on Obamacare itself, with 45 percent support to 47 percent opposition.

Republicans in Congress also got record-low marks in the poll. Just 17 percent of Americans approved of the job GOP lawmakers were doing, and 74 percent disapproved. That’s the lowest approval ever in Quinnipiac’s polling, and is down from August and July this summer.

You're out of the same bunch of idiots who thought Obama was finished over the IRS non-scandal, and the Benghazi non-scandal, and the Syria affair.

Hell, you're among the idiots who thought Romney was going to win the election because the rightwing propaganda machine told you so.

You're always wrong. That's your fate in life, to be always wrong.
