EXCLUSIVE: Al Qaeda Leader Dined at the Pentagon Just Months After 9/11

Anwar Al-Awlaki may be the first American on the CIA's kill or capture list, but he was also a lunch guest of military brass at the Pentagon within months of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, Fox News has learned.

Documents exclusively obtained by Fox News, including an FBI interview conducted after the Fort Hood shooting in November 2009, state that Awlaki was taken to the Pentagon as part of the military’s outreach to the Muslim community in the immediate aftermath of the attacks.

Click here to read a portion of the documents.

The incident was flagged by a current Defense Department employee who came forward and told investigators she helped arrange the meeting after she saw Awlaki speak in Alexandria, Va.

The employee "attended this talk and while she arrived late she recalls being impressed by this imam. He condemned Al Qaeda and the terrorist attacks. During his talk he was 'harassed' by members of the audience and suffered it well," reads one document.

In addition, Awlaki "was considered to be an 'up and coming' member of the Islamic community. After her vetting, Aulaqi (Awlaki) was invited to and attended a luncheon at the Pentagon in the secretary of the Army's Office of Government Counsel."

Since all terrorist attacks are "man made disasters" and the Fort Hood Massacre was a case of “workplace violence”, no problem. Maybe if he plays golf he can get together with the POTUS for a round or two. Fore!!!!!............

yeah, this is kindof a big story... it'll be interesting to see if Fox follows up on this one.

Why would Rumsfeld's office be conducting any "out reach" program for the Muslim community a few weeks after 9/11?

    This reeks.

Looks like you answered your own question Mr. Fitnah. The media did. And the media is still trying to control the conversation with the PC bullshit about the religion of peace. Look at the controversy over O'Reilly on The View.

interesting... so then if it's all plausible and innocuous, the only question left then is: Why would the office of the Secretary of Defense be conducting an outreach program a few weeks after 9/11? Not the State Dept., if any government capacity? HUD?

Is it Rumsfeld's office's role to host luncheons, mend fences and "reach out" to Muslims out one side of its mouth, and propagate fear, fraud, vengeance and tactical military planning out the other?

What a weird story. Granted Anwar Al-Awlaki's extremist views might not have been formed in 2001, but still...to take a Muslim civilian to the Pentagon to give a lecture within weeks of the attack? To what end?

    Very bizarre-o.

Not at all. After the Iraqis seized Kuwait I attended several briefings as a SNCO with Immans so we could be briefed on Muslim views and beliefs. I attended at least 3 in Okinawa , a place from which NONE of us would be deployed due to North Korea. It is standard practice for the military, all branches, to teach their leaders about potential enemies and also friends you will be working closely with.

9/11 was a Muslim terror attack, it makes perfect sense that the military would be talking to supposed moderate Muslims shortly after the attack.

The Bush Administration was simply ignorant in its belief that most Muslims are moderates. The only difference between radicals and moderates is that radicals act on the teachings of jihad (the violent kind) that is found all over their holy books and the so-called moderates aren't violent but they support the goals of the radicals which is to spread Islam until there is an Islamic caliphate all over the world.

Truth be known, any honest Muslim will tell you there is no radical Islam, Islam is Islam, it's all the same.

The Obama Administration on the other hand is crawling with Muslims, many of whom are terrorist-group supporters themselves. But that's what happens when you put a Muslim in the White House.
