This is not taught in government schools.

The fake narrative is that Republicans started the Civil War to keep their slaves and heroic democrats freed them

Of course, reality is the polar opposite

Southern democrats started Jim Crow to enforce and ingrain segregation after their loss in the Civil War.

The laws were ended by Republican President Dwight D Eisenhower with his Civil Rights Act of 1957

New York City was the epicenter of Jim Crow laws, and Robert Moses next-leveled that in a legacy that is still being felt today by blacks. The whites in the Big Apple just splain it away though.

"In 1957, President Eisenhower sent Congress a proposal for civil rights legislation. The result was the Civil Rights Act of 1957, the first civil rights legislation since Reconstruction. The new act established the Civil Rights Section of the Justice Department and empowered federal prosecutors to obtain court injunctions against interference with the right to vote. It also established a federal Civil Rights Commission with authority to investigate discriminatory conditions and recommend corrective measures. The final act was weakened by Congress due to lack of support among the Democrats."

And by "democrats" specifically Senate Majority LBJ, who called is the "****** Bill"

Both parties are complicit in past wrongs. But today's Democratic party is the party of civil rights. You guys tell ME to stop living in te past, well this ain't 1860 and todays Democratic Party is not the same as it was then, nor is the Republican party.

WHITES MADE JIM CROW. AND IT WAS BI PARTISAN.

If a person is for blacks, they must be against Democrats.

Eisenhowers Civil Rights Bill didn't do anything. That is why there was another one 7 years later.

You are ignorant!

Ike’s Bill ended Jim Crow.

The end of the Reconstruction Era in 1877 left the Southern blacks without support from either party. The end of the era resulted from the 1876 presidential election that provided no clear winner between Republican Rutherford B Hayes and Democrat Samuel Tilden.

The Southern Democrats bargained with the Republicans not to challenge Hayes' path to the presidency in return for Republicans ending the use of federal forces to protect the rights of the former slaves.

Republicans lost the Civil War? WTF? If you are going to post a forum on U.S. history, learn some history. Lincoln was a republican and the KKK was the political muscle of the democrat party for the late 19th and early 20th century. FDR appointed a KKK member (Hugo Black) to the Supreme Court and democrat W.V. senator Robert Byrd was a KKK member and one of the longest serving senators.
