Who here "opposes" this simple Sanders' proposal?

I am older----I pay for all my scripts. I like the idea of paying less------I would not buy meds from Canada

I don't know how Canada came into the conversation, but if you were to order meds online from a "Canadian pharmacy," they'd actually be coming from India, China, Sri Lanka, or a host of other countries.

That's where American drugs are made, regardless of how you, the consumer, end up with them. The big difference is in the pricing.

bull shit----------american drugs are LARGELY MADE IN AMERICA-----unless you are buying speed ON-LINE

Nope. The company HQ is probably somewhere in New Jersey, but the manufacturing has been outsourced.
and you are in a field that would have access to this information?
I cant see how collecting garbage requires this knowledge

I wouldn't waste a whole lot of time worrying about it right now. TRUMPCARE is on the way.

That's gonna be interesting. Go to the doctor and you'll get called a "pig", "loser", "rapist" and "pussy".

And then the doctor gives you one of these:

original

..... and tells you, "go home, pussy, or you'll be deported".

There's this amazing new invention called the Internet. You should try it.

Hello? Our senior population is greater than the entire population of Canada! 46 million seniors vs. 35 million Canucks. So how do you think that would work out?

First of all, Canada was ONE example (and because of its proximity, a good one.)
Second, some tribal enterprises (who were not included in the exclusions by Medicare "Advantage") are becoming the "drug stores for some seniors because, these entities are buying from Canada, etc. and reselling those drugs to seniors at a slight profit but still much cheaper than the local pharmacy.

Would not Sanders simply nationalize all drug development and production?

Think about how well government does stuff while you're standing in line at the post office next.

Funny you should bring that up again Henry. You know, after the last time? When I described how the post office got me stuff from Maine and California in as little as six days (from China), while it took UPS three fucking weeks to bring my package from Kansas City, crying the blues about "oh dear, there's snow on the ground"? :gay:
So you want everything run by the government?

Link to where I indicated that?

Yeah, didn't think so.

And now they have probably " merged " with some SOCIALIST company in a SOCIALIST COUNTRY and no longer pay American taxes even though they are still headquartered here.

Walgreens is gone too. Another tax dodging company. They want the U.S. Market but don't want to pay their share of maintaining the country they profit from.

One of Sanders' proposal is not only sane but doable if only congress was not a bunch of self-centered cowards...The proposal is to compel Medicare to openly negotiate with big pharmaceuticals companies for lower prices based on volume.....

Who would lose if this proposal were to become a reality? Big pharma's CEOs and board members who no longer could upgrade to more modern Lear jets every few years.

I oppose it.

1- medicare was UNconstitutional under the old Constitution (1787)
2- Medicare causes healthcare to increased substantially for those not covered by the program
3- The US should adopt a FREE MARKET healthcare program

where did Walgreens go? There are still walgreens stores in my town

Pharma is the 3rd largest donor to the Republican Party.

Research the pressure Ely Lilly placed on the Bush Congress while Medicare Part D was being written. The KEY part of that legislation was to force the taxpayer to pay above market rates for Medicare drugs.

When it comes to the corporations that finance Republican elections, the GOP emphatically does not believe in the free market. When you look at what they give to Big Oil and the Weapons Industry, one thing is clear: they hand out far more goodies than the Left. Research the Reagan Pentagon budget or the amount of money that Halliburton made under Bush. The GOP is the party of welfare and socialism...

What a great plan that is. What could possibly go wrong with the idea of leaving people's health up to the greed of megacorporations whose sole objective by definition is profit. I can't think of a thing wrong with that plan, nosiree bob.

Yes there are.

They didn't actually physically go anywhere.

They just " merged " with a foreign corporation making the foreign corporation the master corporation ( technically not in actuallity ) and get out of paying American taxes because they are OFFICIALLY a foreign corporation ... not American.

they avoid corporate taxes-----they don't get to AVOID state and federal taxes for
the business they conduct in the USA. I believe that if they withdraw income from
the corporation then they have to pay personal income tax if they are American citizens

How would you compel Medicare to do this? The how is where things tend to become a lot less simple.

To answer the above, you may have to "thank" both the GWB administration and congress who came up with Medicare Part D...better known as the "give-away to big pharma"

Part D costs about $80 billion a year and is on track to double by 2022 as benefits improve and Baby Boomers retire. For two reasons, a significant chunk of that money is wasted on overpayments to drug companies: When Part D began, millions of patients were shifted over from Medicaid, the state-federal program for low-income people that gets far lower drug prices than Medicare. Suddenly, the cost of providing drugs to the same people shot up. Congress barred Medicare from negotiating the way Medicaid and the Department of Veterans Affairs do with drug makers to get lower prices. Instead, lawmakers insisted the job be done by private insurance companies.”
