Where are all the doctors?

I don’t know if this is just a Missouri thing or what. Anytime I need a doctor, dentist or specialist it takes months to get an appointment. A simple blood draw, 2 months. A broken tooth, April 1st. A neurologist appointment, June of next year, a mammogram, 4 months out. My general practitioner late Nov. is this going on everywhere? I moved from Tx to Mo 5 years ago and I don’t remember Tx having these issues.

Partly, they're burning out just like everyone else who has to work with the public. Our public is basically unworkable now: demanding, ungrateful, rude, etc. I'm not a big fan of the healthcare profession right now, but that doesn't minimize the fact that our public is awful.

Obummercare at its finest.

They go where the money is. Rural areas don't support much in the way of professional services that cost a lot of money. No giant law forms there, either.

As for Medicare, there would be a lot fewer doctors and medical services without it; it's a booming sector of the economy. Of course a lot of morons think people on it aren't paying for it for some reason, usually stupidity. Here's a thought: deport illegals . That will reduce a lot of demand for everything.

Nurses could handle a lot of the burden, but of course they get paid fairly decently so naturally they're widely despised and hated by the industry and thus heavily abused and over-worked, like every other skilled worker who deserves to make more than 25 cents an hour and avoid working 112 hour weeks. Shareholders and CEOs come first, last, and always, next comes drug companies. and their shareholders.
