When did Labor Day become politicized?

It is a celebration of Unions which are political in nature, and only support Democrats. It is the socialists holiday.
Jealous? If not, you should be.

There was a time when the Grand Old Party was the Party of the Common Man.

Trouble is, that GOP hasn't existed since party leadership turned it into a voting whorehouse for Corporatists, soon after WWI.

Start sticking up the the Common Man, once again, and you might turn that around...

But you won't... in truth, you can't... because Corporate America owns the GOP now, not the remaining rank-and-file.
Unions are nothing more than legalized extortion machines
Thankfully they are being shut down as time passes. Their purpose was fulfilled decades ago and they are no longer needed.

There is a great deal of merit in what you say.

I started-out life as a labor union man through-and-through.

Over time, as I graduated school and got up-to-speed in my chosen profession, I strayed far from the labor front.

Meanwhile, organized crime and cowardly union leadership damaged the American labor union movement nearly beyond repair.

Reagan put a cap in their ass when he fired the whole friggin' lot of striking air traffic controllers en masse, rather like a gang toidy.

American Labor Unions never recovered from that blow, although, truth be told, they were in a long, slow spiral of decline long before that.

Nowadays, unions aren't good for much, and I'm tempted to agree with your "their time has come and gone" perspective.

Trouble is, the very minute we disband the unions, Corporate Robber Barons will begin exploiting Labor again...

And to an extent that would make George Pullman or John D. Rockefeller or Andrew Carnegie blush green with envy...

For that reason, I'm inclined to let 'em lie mostly dormant until the next time we need to Break Glass in Case of Emergency .

In today's market of sueing anyone for anything I don't see this as a threat. We have government institutions (OSHA and the like) as well as civil options that now protect workers.

The kicker for me was when the union picketed my company on a commercial project. Every winter my company redid all the mock ups for a national chain. Then the union picketed me one winter and that chain opted to pull in a crew from Poland for all future winter work.
Essentially the union took money out of the pockets of Americans and gave it to foreigners because of their jack boot tactics and greed.

Today's employers have never ever had an easier time finding bright hard working motivated workers. Never in history has there been a better pool to pull from. As union's go away so does worker loyalty. I am fully against the 2 week notice. It should be illegal. It is an infringement on workers. good workers should not have to give 2 weeks notice. One day would suffice.

A smart worker is ready to take a better one at a whims notice. Loyalty should never factor into the equation. A good days work is all that is needed and it ends there.

A wave that will "flip" again at the first ghostly inkling of a viable Democratic leader who discards the Far Left aspects of the agenda.
Put a solid middle-of-the-road Democrat at the top of the heap, and push aside the Leftists, and they'll abandon The Creature in a heartbeat.
If you only knew how right you are...
...if you think getting the right to listen to you when it comes to this/that is difficult, try getting the left to believe it, they still think hillary was "the best candidate ever" followed by Al gore I imagine...
...I'm a democrat [did not vote for trump] but you won't catch me voting for the left wing garbage the party forces on me with lies.

You are right Frank. I have nobody to vote for as of now. The left is gone bonkers and the gop is solely for big business and to heck with the rest. Time for a third party.

___________

I think it is pretty obvious that Trump is the Third Party.

Never seen a man try so hard to keep every promise made to the people who elected him.

When has either a Democrat or a Republican ever done that?

We now have three parties:

1) Socialists and Loons

2) The Chamber of Commerce

3) Trumpian Deplorables

I voted for him the first time but not next time. I will sit it out of I can't find a third party.
