Germany has pretty powerful unions.
If their corporations went as hog wild using foreign labor and importing from China as the US, their level of "Protectionism" would increase in like manner.
For instance, most European nations have minimal H1-Bs whereas the US is inundated.
Huh? What the heck are you talking about? The truth is the complete opposite of what you just said, in both cases.
Germany imports more manufactured goods from China, than anywhere else in the world. The only other country they import more from, would be Norway, and that is ONLY because Norway is their primary source of oil and petroleum products.
They import vehicle parts, motorcycles, cars, bikes, trucks and trailers. They import computers and electronic equipment. They import tires and plastic product, medical supplies, and on and on.
And again, they have lower tariffs in Germany, than we do.
So this idea that they are not outsourcing to China, and they are not importing tons of manufactured goods, you are crazy. You are nuts. Not true, not a fact. They are importing TONS from China. Number one trading partner if you exclude oil sources.
Moreover, Germany is actively trying to attract as many immigrant workers as they can, and are specifically targeting high-skilled labor.
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/19/w...s-a-booming-germany-woos-immigrants.html?_r=0 high-skilled labor.
Ms. Torres, 24, said she loved living without fear of the violence that was a daily threat in her hometown, Veracruz, Mexico. And Germany, she said, has done much to make her family feel welcome. Her husband, who spoke German before they arrived, is here on a scholarship program that Germany runs to encourage bright foreigners to study in the country. The program entitles Ms. Torres to learn German at no cost and could yield permission for her family to stay for good.
Look, a Mexican in Germany, specifically because of a program for immigrants to take high-skill jobs.
Do you people just MAKE UP crap, and think none of us will fact jack your lying fifthly posts?
Opinion is one thing... even saying "well I think..." is one thing. But to state the absolute exact opposite of what is true..... cut the crap dude. You are not fooling anyone.
I have conversed with IT people in Germany on Dice.com and they say the NYTs is full of shit.
In term of the New York Slimes, Thomas Freidman will publish anything that makes cheap labor sound good.
In fact, the New York Slimes spent the better part of the 2000s not publishing ANYTHING about inundating the US with a minimal H1-Bs every year.
Let me tell you something, 65,000 visas/year x 14 years IS inundating a nation with cheap labor.
YOU try going into IT now and see how far YOU get.
It's easy to minimize the shit that OTHER people have to deal with.
Even physicians are bitching now that they're being bought out by companies like Pro-Health who fire their US doctors after 2 years.
And yes, there are Neo-Cons in Germany AND Japan who are trying to destroy their Middle Class; I saw thus last year on 60 Minutes.
At least 60 Minutes had the balls to explain that the Neos Cons are trashing a segment of their population to make an extra buck.
Just more greed spreading across the globe.
Wait a few years and they will elect our version of Liberals.
You people... I've poured evidence all over you, and it's like I'm talking to a monkey that only knows how to throw poo.
Ok, you don't like the New York Times?
After introducing the EU blue card for highly skilled workers, engineers and members of other sought-after professions are welcome in Germany if they can show an annual income of at least 35,000 euros.
Germany's skilled worker shortage is growing | Germany | DW.COM | 04.06.2012
Here's a German paper reporting on the same program.
German business and industry are glad to see the skilled workers. "Due to Germany's aging population, the country needs some 2 million skilled workers from abroad," said Dieter Hundt, president of the German Employers Association. Workers are especially in demand in the technical sector.
So now what are you going to say?
Some idiot on a forum somewhere: "Yeah I talked to my German IT buddy, and he says all the German papers are crap to. In fact everyone that says anything that doesn't support my made up 'facts', I know a buddy somewhere on the planet that said they were wrong."
Look Indeependent.... Germany has been openly welcoming immigrants for almost a decade. It's a well established fact.
5 Countries That Take the Most Immigrants
Out of all the countries in the entire world...... Germany is number 2, on the list of countries that accept the most immigrants. The US is number 1.
Germany takes more immigrants than any other country in the world, other than us.
You either grow up, and accept that as fact... or you are identifying yourself as too incompetent to debate on this forum.
You can have your opinion about anything, but when you are confronted with absolute undeniable fact, you trying to deny it just makes you ignorant, and childish. Grow up.
I spent over a year listening to Imus in the morning; Imus has Thomas Freidman on at least once a week.
The man is a cheap Labor freak and his paper always touts the "benefits" of massive immigration.
I presume you also believe that Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Carly Fiorina are concerned about the Middle Class from their Presidential Candidate speeches when, in fact, they're are both rabidly in favor of Immigration Reform Bill S744.
Believe what you and others experience, don't believe in MNC Publications or what comes out of someone's mouth.
THIS is what people are experiencing...
Dan Rather Reports - No Thanks for Everything...
So back to the topic of Germany... Germany encourages people to come and work there, takes more immigrants than any other country in the world, other than the US, and has lower protectionism fewer tariffs, and is more free-trade than the US.
And they are the leading economy in the EU.
We've been moving in the opposite direction, and are having the opposite results. I don't need a politician to make a call on that.
Honestly, I have a very low opinion of politicians in general. I don't think any of those people are concerned about anything MORE than they are concerned about winning an election.
Now am I saying all those people you mentioned are lying? I have no idea. I don't know. Some might. Some may not. Beats me. Honestly, I rarely listen to politicians. I don't think I've ever heard Rubio or Cruz speak. I examine the evidence, and make my conclusions from that, not politicians.
So back to your H1-Bs. The Dan Rather Reports, was interesting, and full of crap.
This whiny disgruntled former employee, is pissed off because "Americans need not apply".
How does she know that? Because that's what it said on a job posting in India? Do you not see the problem there? Why would they post a job for Americans..... in India?
Having worked at a company that hired H1-Bs, all of those jobs were in fact posted in America, it's just that they couldn't find someone they really wanted. That's it.
She does not know if those same jobs are posted in the US or not. She's a liar. Perhaps unintentional, but she is wrong.
I also like how she complained about MicroSoft building a shopping and eating area for their employees, which created jobs.... Saying they should not have, because...... why? No logical reason came up. It's also funny that they had a snap shot of the people in the mall, and most were all white faced Americans.
Perceptions... Dan Rather correctly pointed out that it's the perception. That's the key word. Perception. He also points out that most of the Indians at MS are all American citizens. Opps. Fail. Your perception, is just a perception. It's not established fact. "I think 1/3rd of Seattle is Indian immigrants" Fact, only 11% of just the area around Redmond, where MS is, is Indian.
So here's my take on this.
This is my opinion, based on being in the corporate world for decades.
First, this stupid chick in the video, likely was fired because she sucked. The very fact that she has this much time, to sit around checking H1-B visas all day long, complaining about Microsofts Mall, and all this other crap, to me... is clear proof that this chick was a terrible employee. If she was any good, she would have found work someplace, and been busy doing her craft.
My employer has been looking for a high quality software engineer for 2 full years. So far, we've found one single Intern. That's it. And we have been posting these jobs in multiple locations for both of those years. Why did have one guy show up, and he couldn't program tic-tac-toe.
Where are these super amazing programmers that are oh-so-tallented?
So at a different company, they hired an H1-B. He shows up on time. GAH! He does work. GAH! He doesn't go on smoke break, or fart around on Facebook, or Youtube. GAH! And he isn't a jerk! GAH!
We have Americans that have "I'm salary I can do what I want" crap, and they show up at 10:30.... literally they walk in the door at 10:30.
Second, Americans have an entitlement attitude, which is exactly what that Dan Rather video is all about at it's core. We should have those jobs, because we're Americans, and we're entitled. Right? That's basically what that's all about it. We deserve it.
Immigrants don't have that attitude. Which is EXACTLY why they are preferable. And yes, you can fire them. Again, that is EXACTLY why they are preferable.
You fire someone in the US, and you get sued, and dragged to court, to defend your right to get rid of an employee you don't want, and then you get fined for getting rid of an employee you don't want. New York schools and the rubber room. Can't fire them, can't have them teach, so you pay teachers full salary to sit in a room.
It's that mentality that is why this chick in the video was likely terrible, but the company can't say anything because they'll be sued. So she gets to run around on TV, whining about Microsoft, and they can't say anything.
Again, this is EXACTLY why immigrants are preferable. The kick ass American employees, don't have time to be complaining to Dan Rather. They got jobs, because they are in demand. It's the losers that have time to whiny and moan.
See the irony of the entire video, is that it outlined exactly why companies are hiring Immigrants.
