What Now, Republicans???

I would love to see the Rs repeal Obamacare and close the borders, but I doubt they will.

I have no clue how they could, nor why it would be worth the investment to undertake such a monumental task.

If I could snap my fingers and "close' the borders, I would.

There is a cost issue to address, however and there are clearly more pressing issues than making the border between the US and Mexico, impenetrable. Think about it - what would you rather have that money go to? I'd rather see it go towards helping people to get off of drugs or cleaning up cities, making our streets safer, etc.

Why throw almost a trillion bucks at a problem with such a low return and no guarantee of success?

As for Obamacare, I really feel like the Republicans should just leave that alone. Despite the constant bleating of how bad it is, healthcare reform was absolutely necessary.

Kindly refrain from insulting people who show up in good faith to participate in your threads, thanks.

Of course the poster is here to spread the echo-chamber message of hate in all aspects of their posts. Sprinkling these little ditties and more or similar phrases in most all posts. No reason to hope for a serious debate here.

Knowing the thinking behind ObamaCare should make it easier to end it.

The last time the GOP had a majority in Congress,

they expanded Medicare, without funding it. That in and of itself should tell the RWnuts that they are fools to think that they can count on Republicans to actually do in power what they say they'll do while trying to get into power.

Boo hoo, Boo.

Let me give you a choice:

Find anything I posted that is not factual....or admit you have no ability to think for yourself.

As usual...bogus.

1. "A member of a Marxist-Leninist party or a supporter of one; a Communist."

2. "If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck."

In 2005, after winning re-election, GWB, with both Houses of Congress controlled by republicans, sought to 'reform' Social Security.

He failed miserably.

“[G]reat changes are seldom built on slender partisan majorities; regardless of who happens to hold a numerical edge, the parties must confer on more or less equal terms, and they must compromise.”

http://www.brookings.edu/~/media/research/files/papers/2007/9/21governance galston/20070921

'Compromise' is clearly not in the republican vocabulary, consequently there will be continued stalemate and gridlock.

More instructions for the new Congress:

"in America, the law is King. For as in absolute governments the king is law, so in free countries the law ought to be king; and there ought to be no other."
Common Sense, Thomas Paine.

If only.

3. I would like to see a rational policy toward the illegal immigrants who are already here, in contravention of our laws. Eschew wholesale amnesty, which would simply encourage more law-breakers.

a. Stop worrying about the 'fastest growing demographic group...Hispanics."

They're not.

" Senior citizens have become the largest and fastest-growing segment of the U.S. population, a demographic shift that influences everything from consumer behavior to health-care costs, according to this Census release.

The United States’ 65-and-over population grew 15.1% from 2000 to 2010 to 40.3 million people. That age group now represents 13.0% of the population, up from 12.4% in 2000.... Florida has the largest share of its population that is 65 or over, with 17.3%, followed by West Virginia (16.0%) and Maine (15.9%)." Seniors Have Fastest-Growing Population - Real Time Economics - WSJ

Republicans: work for the senior's vote by repairing the economy!

4. Next.
Reduce the size of these three related components:

a.... taxes, and

b. ...debt,

c. ...and of the federal government itself!!!

Most folks understand the binary nature of our political system.

Between Democrat and Republican, you pick the one closest to your views....and bubble in the little circle.

There are two outliers....

a. The dopes who boast that they never vote for either, 'they're the same...' which usually means that they are afraid to have to confront arguments, or to lazy to study the choices.

b. Loser-terians, the 'my way or else' folks who more often than not, throw elections to the Democrats.

(This does not include the out-right liars who claim to be Republicans, but consistently post support of the Liberals....we all know who that is, don't we.)

Now that the American people have finally done what we on the Right, more particularly, conservatives, implored them to do six years ago, kick the community organizer to the curb......we need to elucidate what it is we hoped for when we gave our votes, our support to the Republican candidates.

Here is my considered list, in no particular order, of what the anti-Leftist aims should be.

1. ObamaCare: Repeal this fraudulent bill, replace it with one based on more accurate and truthful accounts, i.e., numbers covered, actual costs to the nation and of deductibles, promises about keeping doctors and plans.

Obama wasn't the first Bolshevik to support socialized medicine. For context, there was Henry Sigerist: "He devoted himself to the study of history of medicine.Socialized Medicine in the Soviet Union(1937), andHistory of Medicinewere among his most important works. He emerged as a major spokesman for "compulsory health insurance". ...He attacked the American Medical Association because of his conflicting views on socialized medicine." Henry E. Sigerist - Wikipedia the free encyclopedia

a. And, Sigerist was one of the apologists for Stalin, including his state-engineered famine in the Ukraine. 7 million perished
(The History Place - Genocide in the 20th Century Stalin s Forced Famine 1932-33).

b. Sigerist "shared with the architects of Soviet health policy under Stalin an outlook best described as medical totalitarianism. He really believed that humanity would be better off if every individual were under the medical supervision of the state from cradle to grave....[and] Sigerist's belief in the necessity for state control over all aspects of medicine ultimately made him an apologist for state control over most aspects of human life."
Fee and Brown, eds. "Making Medical History: The Life and Times of Henry E. Sigerist," p. 252

Knowing the thinking behind ObamaCare should make it easier to end it.

2. Close and man the borders, and remind the world that we are a sovereign nation.
Before any consideration be given to dealing with those who have broken our laws, stop the flow of new law-breakers.

a. The "Global Governance Movement," the Soviet-inspired United Nations, claims precedence over a wide area of issues: budget practices, law enforcement, criminal law, criminal law, school curriculum, textbooks, immigration, border enforcement, healthcare, parental care, discipline of children, employment, multilingualism, gender composition of government bodies, among others. UN Human Rights treaties address all of the above.
Fonte, "Submission or Sovereignty."

b. There is a responsibility that flows from citizenship, duties to others, basically to strangers, including a defense of their common territory and the maintenance of the law that applies within said jurisdiction.
Roger Scruton, "The West and the Rest."

Note the central idea: territory. There is no common territory without borders, and without national sovereignty.

Yes, we should keep out the Koreans unless they prove they've come here to work and contribute to our society.

What if they came here to work, not pay taxes because they not here legally, and they send half of their pay back to Korea?

they expanded Medicare, without funding it. That in and of itself should tell the RWnuts that they are fools to think that they can count on Republicans to actually do in power what they say they'll do while trying to get into power.

This time the Democrats suckered the states to expand Medicare by funding it for the first year. Then the federal funding eventually goes away and the states that expanded it will have to raise taxes to pay for it. One good deal after another.

You moron....didn't you read what Obama said??????

Oh...wait...he said it was Muslims....

What now, GOP?

Lower taxes on the very wealthy.

Strangle the EPA so our air can be as lovely as that in Bejing.

Repeal the ACA, we don't need healthy children.

Repeal child labor laws, the little buggers need to earn their keep.

Repeal evolution, that is a Marxist idea.

Repeal Climate Change, tell those damned glaciers to stop melting. Make it illegal for the seas to rise any further.

Oh my, so much on the agenda.

How does the GOP repeal the ACA over the president's veto?

The only way to 'repeal' the PPACA is to have a replacement which fixes it. All laws pursued in a Republic begin as a desire to built a horse and we end up with a camel.

Sadly, the political process in the United States has devolved into a pissing contest where no one wins, thus the PPACA cannot be repealed or fixed, for it has become the prize in a zero sum contest. Consider the President's effort to make the camel into a domestic animal able to work well - it is met with nothing but disdain by the opposition party who claim his efforts to fix and make adjustments to the law are high crimes and misdemeanors.

What efforts will be made by the power elite who hold the majority in both houses of Congress to work toward a perfect union, to secure justice, to insure domestic Tranquility, to provide for the common defense, to promote the general Welfare, and even to secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity? Time will tell, I suspect MB&Co. (McConnell, Boehner and Company) believe that cutting taxes to the rich and corporations will trickle the goals outlined in the Preamble to the rest of us.

What efforts are made on this forum even to discuss this vision written in Preamble to our Constitution? It is never considered a vision statement, which in fact it is.

Only when good men and women focus on the greater good for the greatest number of our citizens might we expect movement. Even then, some asshole with a gun will kill the leadership of such a movement.

Republicans want minimum wage and "let him die".
