What kind of idiot brings a BABY STROLLER into the passenger section of an airliner?

I've seen boogie boards, bicycles and a variety of other things carried on. The stroller broke down to specs, that's why she had it. Dumbass attendants didn't know it broke down and acted like baby killing, woman hating faggots.

Would you please tell us:
  • what is so objectionable about gate checking a stroller, which is what the airline wanted to do?
  • what is one going to do on an airplane with a stroller?
You said you've been on a plane before, so I presume between that and my explaining what "gate checking" means, you realize the airlines recognize that passengers need their stroller to transport their kid(s) through the airport, thus they won't "check through to baggage claim" a stroller that has been gate checked.

So, please, explain to us what it is about a stroller that can possibly militate for one's need to to have it be stowed and take up space -- and in the worst case, become an airborne projectile that may harm someone -- in the passenger cabin rather than in the "gate checked" cargo hold below deck.

I'm sincerely asking the question because as someone who, until quite recently, routinely flew one to five times a week for the past 25 (maybe 23) years, I don't see what the issue is with gate checking a stroller. I've flown on just about every class of plane that exists in commercial airline fleets, and in none of them is the distance one must go from one's seat to the restroom so far that a typical parent cannot carry or escort the child there. Flight attendants will, if asked, assist quadriplegic parent with getting themselves and the child to the restroom. Occasionally, a plane will have a social lounge. I suppose if one's of a mind to hang out there and party with a small child, the airline may allow one to do so. Maybe then the stroller would be useful, but what'd be more useful to have is the common sense that tells you an on-board the airplane social lounge with a bunch of drinking and mildly boisterous adult revelers is probably not the best place for a child, even one comfortably ensconced in its stroller.

As an aside, male gays don't intrinsically hate women. They simply don't especially want to f*ck or wed them. All things considered, that's probably a good thing for women and gay men, regardless of its impact on other members of society.
you haven't met shootspeeders, old fag, or Ravi, I see.

nobody said there's anything wrong with gate checking it, you moron. That is completely irrelevant. In this instance, she had a compact one that met specs and she was given permission to stash it in a bin. The attendants were out of order.

I guess not, for I have no idea of who those individuals are. Truly, though I can tell Ravi is likely a person, I can't say I'm confident the same holds true for "shootspeeders" and "old fag."

I haven't seen anything that indicates that is the case. If you have, by all means, do share. I watched the video, and I don't see a stroller in it, so I can't tell from that. Even if the stroller is small enough and the woman had been told it was okay to stow the thing in the passenger cabin, extant circumstances -- for example, needing the space in the overhead bin for someone's luggage -- may have militated for the flight attendant to rescind that okay, and instead stow the stroller with other gate checked items. I don't know. I haven't come across any details about the stroller itself and what a flight attendant may have said to the woman. As I said, if you have, by all means, do share.

Based on a remark by the passenger's attorney, it appears that the matter isn't about whether the mother could stow the stroller in the passenger cabin, but rather that the mother was upset that her child almost got hit, presumably by the stroller in the process of the flight attendant obtaining it to gate check it. In an earlier report, it was noted that watching the video, one can hear another passenger remark, "he smacked her in the face with the stroller.” (See also: Sobbing Passenger, Confrontation Caught On Video Of American Airlines Incident)

Who specifically "he" and "her" are is somewhat unclear. Presumably, "he" is a member of the flight crew. "Her" may be the woman or her child, but insofar as the child was in the video described as "almost" being hit, I think "her" is the mother. That makes sense to me because I think it absurd that the woman would be so distraught as to cry over her stroller's being gate checked. That said, she could indeed have been brought to tears over the stroller and not over having been hit (presumably) as the attendant took it.

The stroller controversy and whether the passenger had a right to bring it on the airline is just a deflection to "blame the victim". A woman bringing a stroller on a flight would not be a major news story. The news story was about how the United crew handled the situation and how the United officials presented the story to the media. The woman with the stroller did nothing wrong. The airline did everything wrong, assaulted the woman, endangered a baby and when a passenger stood up for the woman and baby, he was challenged to a physical altercation by an out of control member of the crew. That was followed by ridiculous excuses and deflections from the top boss at the Airline.

xelor she was following instructions from the personnel at the gate.

You clearly have no idea about what you are talking.

god you statist cowards are tiresome. So you think that she should be subjected to abuse based upon the fact that her carry on is a stroller....as opposed to some guy's giant backpack? Fuck off. I'm so sick of the misogynistic attitude that mothers and children are secondary citizens. What scumbags Americans have turned into.

shitspeeders CAN'T think. The mother was fully within her rights to request the stroller be placed into an overhead bin based on info she got from a different flight attendant.

Produce this "different flight attendant" who told her that. You can't because there is none. The dumb bitch just made that up.

From that video the flight attendant was completely out of order, the man who threatened to punch him should be awarded a medal....because men who hit women are the lowest form of bottom feeder.

HAHAHA. The board notes that you consider women inferior weaklings who need men to protect them.

That flight attendant was completely out of line. Cant believe any airline employee would be so stupid considering the recent news.
Still airlines have gotten pretty strict with carry on luggage, Im surprised anyone would bring a stroller on board (at least without checking first)
One time I brought a child car seat on for the extra seat I paid for. I couldn't imagine my antsy barely toddler age son on my lap for a 10 hour flight. The female flight attendant wasn't real happy about it, but at least she didn't grab it away in a fit of anger. lol

No you moron, as a woman I consider men who hit women to be the lowest form of bottom feeder, we do not need men to protect us, but I was brought up around Gentlemen and I expect men to be chivalrous.

You obviously must be a knuckledragger who thinks it's okay for a man to hit a woman.

You don't think that flaccid, lonely loser OP represents Americans, do you?

No, he's just a bigmouth nobody who spouts off online but wouldn't dare so much as look anybody in the eyes in real life.

.
Produce this "personel at the gate".
You just want to play the blame the victim game. When did you ever board a flight that there was not airline personnel at the gate? Have you ever even gone through a boarding process at the gate?

So produce the person. You keep saying airline personnel told her she could take the stroller on the plane. So show us this person.

Featherlite and t he OP are completely out of line defending the steward.

I suspect most passengers agree with me. They are sick of other passengers bringing all sorts of unwieldy contraptions on board that get in everyone else's way.
