What is the primary cause of the belief that all members of our species aren't related?

It's really quite strange how college educated people can deny the common descent and kinship of humanity as a whole. It's an obvious realization if you understand even the basics of evolution and human migration. Despite this, what seems to be the vast majority of people fail to accept it. Why is that? Is it simply the low quality of education? The difficulty of overcoming cultural indoctrination? A desire to maintain the "racial" status quo? Something else entirely? Please tell me your reasoning if you honestly think that these facts are wrong. I'm genuinely baffled by your views and would appreciate any constructive feedback for better presenting the reality of our shared heritage and kinship.
