There was plenty of oxygen on earth. Just not as much elemental oxygen, free in the atmosphere. In fact, there was nearly the same amount as exists on earth today.Oxygen. Oxygen began on Earth beginning about three billion years ago as a waste product from cyanobacteria. Then was all absorbed by iron in stone on the ocean floor for a long time.
So no, this answer is not acceptable.
