What Is It About "Obamacare" That Is Going To "Ruin America"?

Time and time again, I hear Republican politicians saying how "Obamacare" (i.e., the Affordable Health Care Act) will "ruin the country." They hardly ever say HOW it will "ruin" our country.

So that's my question: precisely what is it about the AHCA that will ruin our country? I would like to hear from those who agree with the objecting Republicans. Tell us specifically what it is about the AHCA that is going to "ruin America."

If it succeeds, it reinforces an "ends justify the means" philosophy which says that it doesn't matter how many lies the president tells or how much sleight of hand the congress plays to achieve its objectives as long as it's "good for you".

In the meantime, while we wait for the Democrats to redefine what constitutes success, we have strangulation of what might have been a robust recovery, a move toward 29-hour-work week becoming the norm, and many people who were being responsible and structuring their lifestyles so that they could buy insurance under previous rules now finding that their insurance/healthcare is no longer affordable.

The people the fanatical liberal totalitarians despise most are the hard working responsible happy taxpayers.
They claim to be "for" the workers but they protect only the lazy, the stupid and the irresponsible.
The worker is only there to be manipulated to fund special interest groups.
A kulak would be stalins term for a worker.

It seems socialist is OK if it has already been defined and is currently being used, i.e. SS, Medicare, etc.. etc... It is funny how a handful of crazy congressmen will use SS and Medicare and every entitlement they can gets their hands on and then refer to nationalized healthcare as a socialist agenda. We all know that socialism is one step away from communism. hint..hint... LOL If helping my fellow American in an efficient, comprehensive and consistent manner means I'm socialist, then I guess I am.
Have you ever experienced socialized healthcare?
XXXXX

I have not, have you? I have many friends in other developed countries that have nationalized healthcare and love it!!!

We have friends in Brussels, Paris and just outside London.

They all think we're crazy to pay the taxes we pay and get next to nothing for it.

Well, we do have that enormous military that we have no use for because its the 21st century. If the Rs get their way, we will soon have even more useless tanks to park and watch rot in the desert sun because they are obsolete. But, considering the taxes the average American pays, we get zip in return.

Anyone who is interested -- the documentary/book, Money Driven Medicine, describes how, after WWII, the rest of the world invested in themselves while the US invested in bigger and bigger guns. We made the conscious decision to screw ourselves over so we could be the big bad guy on the block while other countries invested in their own best interests.

The destruction of capitalism. No private enterprise, no workers=no tax dollars to pay for the Unaffordable Health Act, that will be a failure, if it ever gets out of the toilet....

The book is anti American hate.
If France, Belgium and the UK are so awesome...........
Two questions, why are they bankrupt?
Why are you here?

The King of the Netherlands has declared that the 20th century style welfare state has failed, it is unsustainable.
Now if one of the 4 nations on earth that were at the forefront of implementing leftist liberal welfare ideas now declares them a failure , what does that tell you?
It was believed that the Dutch were the most socialist of European nations, by other European nations.
Your ideas are failed.
Hence Europe is in the shitter, the USA is still thriving, despite OBAMAS best efforts.

Give me a break; this is simply gibberish. Lied to? On the scale that Bush lied to you about WMD?

About the same, yeah. And by ramming the mandate through he's done about as much damage to the Constitution.

So if AHCA is the "destruction of capitalism" will you just shut up starting January 1? It will all be over for you. And since capitalism will be dead, you can shut up about Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, food assistance, and entitlements too.

You are looking ridiculous and it's obvious (because you continue whining every time you lose and predict the end of the world as we know it, which never happens) that you do not believe what you are posting. This kind of language deserves ridicule. If you want the CDZ to be a place for civil and reasoned argument, you cannot be constantly using offensively hyperbolic language.

Putting government in charge of health care is never a good idea and has never worked.

Government run health care exists in just about every modern first world country but USA. And yes it has worked well in these countries.

Why don't you start by explaining what Obamacare is? We seem to get new revelations about its requirements and corresponding waivers on a daily basis. Do you really think the federal government can manage anything more efficiently than the private sector? Do you think it should have the power to pick and choose "approved" health providers? Do you understand that someone has to pay for this fiasco?

Do I think feds can run things more efficiently than private sector? Farming out the NSA work to Booz Hamilton didn't work too well did it? Remember Eric Snowden?

What we are witnessing with the exchange problems is a glimpse into our future. People, sick people, stuck behind miles and miles of red tape without help, but paying into the system with taxes and/or penalties.

I'll bet you the IRS will be way more efficient at collecting fines than obamacare will be at getting people the care they need.

Which is irrelevant. ACA isn't government run healthcare..

Kinda sounds like you're buying jasonnfree's premise that government run health care is working well in all those other countries. That would be a mistake.

Not at all. I'm just saying it's irrelevant in a discussion of Obamacare.

To me, the scariest thing is almost 1,000 pages of law with almost 10,000 ages of attached addendums et al... which no one read before passing the bill. Who knows what's in there?

When all Doctors have to follow government guidelines, rules and regulations, that is government run healthcare.

The very high taxes that will hit middle income.
The stymied growth of Small Businesses.

Another myth generated by the right. What really hurt small businesses was the GOP shutting down government.

Before we get started, we need to address one of the favorite Media talking points, the claim that, "ObamaCare hurts small business."

The unbiased truth on ObamaCare and Small Business: ObamaCare helps most small businesses. The fact is, small business owners have historically had a much harder time providing themselves and their employees with insurance due to rising health insurance costs; meanwhile bigger businesses have remained largely unaffected due to the leverage buying large group health plans gives them. This problem has only gotten more severe in the past decade. Today, almost half of America's uninsured are small business owners, employees or their dependents.
