You don’t mean modified life styles, you mean reduced quality of life by government mandate. If electric vehicles were practical, people would be buying them by choice. That’s why cars replaced horses, cars were more efficient, horses needed lots of specialized care every day even when not being used. A car could be parked in a shed for days or weeks without maintenance. A horse took more than twenty minutes to harness and place in the traces of a carriage or wagon, a car or truck took a minute to crank start. A horse had two advantages over a early car, it was self-driving to a little extent and it made more horses.

No you bozo, people won't be buying electric cars by choice. For the same reason American bozos didn't accept exhaust emissions reduction, seatbelts, air bags, motorcycle helmets, or anything else that was good for them.

They claimed they were being forced by government!

Then they ignore freedoms and rights being taken away from women with the attempt to ban all abortions. And now apparently even accept the FBI/DOJ's hands being tied with a crooked judge not allowing an investigation!

In the EU, this isn't a problem. about 30 years ago, they invested in recycling and reclamation of Lithium Batteries. Each individual government kicked in and now the EU doesn't have the problems you are noting here. Usually, it's a National Push to get the Lithium Battery Recycling and Reclamation at first because it's going to be a loss at first. When it becomes a money maker, Industry will pick it up. The US has yet to pay the piper.

The Europeans are losing money on their lithium battery recycling program, vast amounts of money. Last year they claimed it MIGHT become slightly profitable by 2025. Massive quantities of auto batteries would push that time frame far down the road. When the government has to subsidize something year after year after three decades, it’s never going to work.

While hydro sounds good, it is NOT an endless supply of power, and is very limited by the huge amount of water it requires.
Lots of places with hydro, like Oregon and Idaho, are removing dams because they kill fish.
Water levels on many rivers like the Colorado and Rio Grande, have dropped too much for reliable hydro.

Sounds good, but still just a drop in the bucket.
If we are going to do EVs, we will need much more electricity generation.
And solar, wind and hydro can't even get close.
