Weatherman Fired for slip of the tongue

How sick is this? Is this really what we've come down to? Shame on the station managers.
New York meteorologist fired after using racial slur on air
You miss the point

His slur is not the issue.

The issue is that his slurs takes place against a backdrop of systemic and institutional racism. And that backdrop of housing and job discrimination, racial profiling, unequal health care access, and a media that regularly presents blacks in the worst possible light makes racial slurs, even if relatively minor, take on a different meaning.

And for you who may change the subject to slurs used against whites like honky or cracker

Please note.

It's precisely the lack of any potent, institutional force to back up those words, which makes them so much easier for whites to shrug off.

But black people are well aware that the slurs used against us, particularly when verbalized by whites are the tip of the iceberg

Do you honestly believe the guy intentionally called black people 'coons"?

Seems to be a huge difference between coon and king and not simply that he "jumbled a couple of words."
He didn't jumble a couple of words. He jumbled one word, and that one word begins with the same inflection as the one he used. Do you agree he should be fired for being a racist?

From the link, "jumbled a couple of words" is his explanation and his quote, not mine.

Isn't 'Coon' a disparaging term Pro Black minded Americans use to shame and bully our successful black or American neighbors, friends and co-workers of African descent choosing to peacefully pursue THEIR OWN unique vision for L, L, (Love) and Happiness?

Hello, Paul. When writing about "black people" are you including a LARGE population of apparent slow-to-evolve, freedom-loving "Pro Black, Woke or Conscious Black Community" minded American citizens, ILLOGICALLY believing they have a right, as well as duty to LOUDLY and HATEFULLY demean, denigrate, bully, taunt, harass, and in some instances threaten with violence, our successful, accomplished black or American friends, neighbors and co-workers of African descent?

"Sell-out" "C^^n" and "Uncle Tom" are just a few HATEFUL, denigrating terms "Pro Black or Conscious Black Community" American citizens use to LOUDLY demean and intimidate our accomplished, successful black or American friends, neighbors and co-workers of African descent choosing to peacefully pursue THEIR OWN unique vision for L, L, (Love) & Happiness.

White people have history with MLK "coon" talk

Sometimes they get real blatant with it

White supremacists don't get fired. They get transferred.

That's all that will happen to him. He'll be fine. Some other channel will pick him up

He'll be fine.

The thing is if he's says shit like this at work on air, just imagine how he talks off air ?

It's like when Hank Williams talked shit about Obama but then he got called back
Or the official who called Michelle Obama and "ape" she got her job back

So now he's a white supremacist?

But Cracker, Wop, Dego, and other racial slurs of Whites are OK?
