Washington State's new "Gun" Law includeds Flare Guns and Nail Guns.

The type of nail gun covered in the law can be found at many hardware stores such as Home Depot under the brand name Ramset. They are very common. Boat flare guns also fall under the law. It also looks like, due to the definitions, that anything under 16" will be considered a pistol and will require a conceal carry permit as well.

There are cartridge driven anchors used for concrete. They may have written is loosely on purpose, that way they could do what they want when they want and voters either wouldn't read the fine print or couldn't.
You think the average legislator voting for it read it?

I doubt it.

Gruber wasn't just talking about Dem voters, he was talking about their representatives too.

You think the average legislator has ever SEEN (much less used) a nail gun?
This law bypassed the legislators. It was proposed under the Initiative and Referrendum process in the State of Washington and was added to the General Election ballot in November because it had enough voter signatures on the proposal to be placed there. The problem is that big money pushed the ads, and no one understood the real details of the fine print. Is the definitions that will kill you every time. They did the same thing in 2000 with initiative 713 that outlawed traps. Lots of TV ads with gnawed off legs of cute furry forest animals....problem was they exempted rat and mouse traps but forgot to add mole traps. Mole traps are still illegal.

It was an initiative by the people...it bypassed the legislators. On this one Gruber was right...the stupidity of the Washington Voters

Nail guns and flechette shells are "cop killers" since they ignore bulletproof vests.

But I very much doubt that even criminals are going to carry a nail gun instead of a regular sidearm. Why? Because criminals do not intend to fight police (unless they are cornered), criminals intend to assault and violate regular citizens, who are not likely to be wearing vests.

Gruber was right about everything, just not honest at the time. No, the initiative wasn't by the people, it was put forward by anti-gun activists, signatures collected by more activists (often payed) and passed by the unwitting masses, based on emotion, not facts. The legislators didn't have anything to do with it, which is the problem with the initiative process. It bypasses the democratic republic system that we were founded on.
