Was purpose of Constitution to make liberals illegal?

Shoob: I'm in favor of change that makes things better and against change that makes things worse. Does that make me liberal or conservative? Who cares?

Brutus: Conservatives are for change toward more freedom and liberty from government as were our founders.

Liberals are for change toward more government- the exact opposite. Can you decide whether you are for or against the basic American principle?

The Govt was small because the US was small like under 200K citizens. No planes, trains or automobiles, no military, no foreign aid etc.

Brutus: that is absurd!! Jefferson took over the government in 1800 because it was too big. He wanted to make it much smaller even then.
Jefferson knew, without seeing the 20th Century, that government was evil, you still don't know it!!

Conservatives are for Military Dictatorships, Aristocracies, Theocracies, Autocracies and Monarchy.

Liberals are for Democracies.

All are governments. It's just that Liberals prefer governments for the people and by the people.

So, you enjoy wallowing in stereotypical generalizations. :eusa_eh:

The Constitution was written by Liberals

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HAHAHahahahahaha... Prove it? Then prove they were liberals in terms of liberals today.

Waiting for your fail.

The FF were none of what we see today if anything.

One man....one vote
All men are created equal

Ultimate liberal causes of the day. Too bad the conservatives of the day insisted on Slavery

It hurts my eyes to read such stupidity.
The FF were not liberal nor Conservative as we have loosely defined these two ideologies in today’s terms. I’m not arrogant enough to put labels on people that have died near 200 years ago as you seem to be ok with doing.

Are you trying to sell me that the FF would give the thumbs up for Obamacare, Iraq, Afghanistan, homeland security, secret prisons, torture, mass illegal immigration, Medicare part D, Medicare, Medicaid, SS and the Fed?

The FF might have been “liberals” of their day but they fought for the polar opposite of what liberalism stands for today.

Not that any of this matters, you’re a neocon and that is nothing like the FF.

"If men were angels, no government would be necessary." James Madison

The times and historical moment in which the constitution was written are too different from today to claim they wanted the same thing every rightwing nutcase tool is instructed to say by the corporations and the wealthy.

"... legislators cannot invent too many devices for subdividing property... Another means of silently lessening the inequality of property is to exempt all from taxation below a certain point, and to tax the higher portions or property in geometrical progression as they rise. Whenever there are in any country uncultivated lands and unemployed poor, it is clear that the laws of property have been so far extended as to violate natural right." Thomas Jefferson, in a letter to James Madison 1785

The hell they did

They fought for the rights of the common man against the rich and powerful. They fought for the rights of field workers to have the same vote as a rich landowner........just like today

Conservatives defended the rights of the elite class to control the government....just like they do today

Right....Everyone who disagrees with your version of authoritarian collectivism is a "rightwing nutcase tool [who] is instructed to say by the corporations and the wealthy".

Except, of course, when gubmint is in possession of these uncultivated lands, then everything is just as it should be.

We've met the tool, pal, and he is ye.

The founding fathers would have found today's conservative movement to be repulsive....much the same as they found their own conservative movement to be repulsive

definitely a matter of perspective. Unless one is considering the extremes of both sides I would agree with you, as for claiming all liberals or all conservatives are the antithesis of the founding fathers intent......... I really don't think so.

Brutus: that is ultra absurd or stupid! Jefferson wrote the Declaration and created the Republican Party in 1794 that destroyed the Federalists. He was 100% for limited government and little else, as are modern Republicans!

The liberals spied for Stalin because they are 100% opposed to limited government as was Stalin!

Maybe you should read the Constitution. The federal government has some very broad powers and is supreme over the states.
Maybe you should read the Constitution - the states ultimately hold sovereignty over the Federal government.

The thing you may want to pay attention to is that the Constitution prohibits the Federal Government from trampling on the rights of the Indivdual. Something Conservatives continue to ignore..right to this day.
Says she, the left-wing supporter of ever-stronger gun control laws.

The Constitution was written by Liberals
Classical liberals (i.e. libertarians), not 20th century Fabian socialist/progressive "liberals".
You know this and may now cease and desist spreading that half-truth.
That's a bullshit term created by Conservatives.
Liberals are not "Traditional" or "Classical".
Another blatant, deliberate mis-understanding on your part. Very sad.
