Was Jesus Christ a socialist?

Did Jesus advocate government owning the means of production?

I dont thnk so...but:

1. Jesus owned nothing. 2. Jesus argued for the dissolution of the family and the establishment of communes. 3. Jesus loved all people regardless of ethnicity or class. 4. Jesus revolted against the imperial government, established religion and finance capitalism (usury). 5. Jesus taught that we should act as one body, one blood. 6. Jesus taught that his kingdom (ie nation state) is in the heart and not below the feet. 7. Jesus taught that we should fight for Justice and 'turn the other cheek' to petty morality. 8. Jesus was a laborer and a teacher. 9. Jesus practiced healing and forgiveness. 10. Jesus taught that you can't be an imperialist and a disciple at the same time.

But at the individual level, he didn't go around asking that the Romans provide food and lodging for all and tax the people for it did he , he didn't advocate government confiscating the sheep herders property for the good of society did he?

Preaching and governing are two different things and should remain that way, we have far too much moral posturing in politics as it is:eusa_hand:

21 Jesus said to him, "If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor,

Jesus on the Poor

Or something like that...lolololololol

Agreed...I also believe we should follow his beliefs.

what a quandary. :eusa_eh:

However Jesus also belived that a person should never DO these things at the expense of others or forcing Government to do so at their BEHEST It was an individual CHOICE of men that had to answer to GOD for.

No, he told everybody to chip in, and better to give all and die a pauper, than to die rich and as a king.

Give those things that belong to Caesar, to Caesar.

Yes he did........................

Show me where Him saying "Give those things that belong to Caesar, to Caesar " involves government taking things that DON'T belong to Caesar (government)

I hope he does, I love everyone, I just don't want to be FORCED to love, that causes me to RESENT:eusa_angel:

Apparently Jesus never wrote anything down and we have at BEST second quotes from Jesus.

So what?

We do have the Constitution written down, and progressive Fabian socialists still try to tell us that it says all sorts of things that it doesn't say and was never meant to say.

Ah...speaking of that..remember te "mosque" thingy?

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Hmm, under Socialism the government takes care of you by spreading the wealth around. I don't think JC wanted to give any more wealth to the government than they were already stealing.

I believe JC said to take care of the poor, not to give your money to the government to take care of the poor.

But then I am not a religious scholar or anything like that.

Huh?

Somehow the phrase comes to mind:

"Give to Ceaser what is Ceaser's and to God what is God's"

Do you "religious" people ever pay the slightest attention to your own religion? You just seem to make it up as you go along....

Creating God in your own image.....

So pay close attention:

JESUS DID NOT OBJECT TO TAXES AND CLEARLY STATED THAT PEOPLE SHOULD BE WILLING TO PAY THEM!

Stick that in your tea bag and smoke it!

However Jesus also belived that a person should never ... or forcing Government to do so at their BEHEST...

Exactly where in the bible does it say that? Seems like you're making up your own religion on fly....

Creating God in your own image perhaps?

I don't know much about Mormons. I know that they claim to be Christians....

Why exactly would you say that they are not?

First off numbnuts, no one has ever accused me of being religious. And I admitted to being no scholar on the subject. Neither did I say that we shouldn't pay taxes. And neither did JC.

What I said was I don't think JC was in favor of the Government taking care of us from cradle to grave. Which is what the ultimate goal of socialism is actually all about.

Now go ahead and have a few more puffs of whatever you're smoking, and pay no attention to the black helicopters.

Because Christians say they are not...

Need links? I can provide them, no problem. I grabbed them for T and he wont address this anymore. I am so hurt.

Hey, I'm not taking sides...I'm just curious...I'd be interested in links.....

After all, just about every founder of every protestant variation of Christianity was declared to be anything for guilty of heresy to being the anti-Christ by the Cathonlic church...and visa versa....

So simply 'Christians' saying that Mormons aren't Christians doesn't mean very much....what's the theological basis?

I was taught by the same denomination that Palin belongs to that Mormans were false and would burn in hell.
