Warm Bagels and Heavy Winds

we are just starting to get snow......its colder than a witch's tit wants to be out there......the air is

snow is starting....its cold...i am in....all the animals but clark are in.....so there is clark wanting in....brb lol

You stay warm and safe bones.

I figured we could maybe be non-partisan for a bit. To everyone on the coast, stay safe. To the rest of you, send positive energy our way.

NYC now has winds of 45 miles an hour. That's down from over 50, this morning. Schools, courts, the stock market and other state and city offices are closed. our supermarket is closed, but our neighborhood bagel place was open. My husband went out and brought back hot whole wheat bagels so his trip out wasn't a total loss. We're in what they're calling zone B... which in NYC's parlance now means that we're in danger of flooding only if Sandy hits a catagory 2.

who else is in the storm zone and what are you doing to cope?

You stay safe and dry jillian.

Just wondering.... did you prepare for the storm?

we prepared to the extent we could. made sure the cars have gas (there were already lines yesterday afternoon and some places were running out). i have food for the pets and for us. if we lose power, we have canned stuff, but we'll stick to defrosting. we have flashlights and candles. and we took the stuff off of the terrace.

i figure not a lot else to do.

Have your cell phone car charger on hand for your phones just in case power goes out.... if you have extra laptop batteries..... charge them all up too.

This thing is scary and i don't even live on the east coast!! Here in Michigan we're supposed to get 50 to 70 mph winds in the next day or so, and 25 ft waves on Lake Michigan!!
Sounds like there's quite a lot of you on this board that are being hit....please stay safe!!!!!!!!!!!!!

done that!

the laptops won't do us any good if we lose the satellite. but we'll see. they're all charged and revved.

Thanks, gramps. I'm concerned about some of my friends in Zone A. Because last year's hurricane turned out to be a big nothing, they're treating this one as if it's the same type of storm and haven't evacuated even though they've been ordered to.

kind of a 'boy cries wolf' thing, unfortunately.

and i can't imagine what's going to happen with my family's place on the jersey shore. that's worrying.

Are you all supposed to get snow too?

In the mountains. Not cold enough near the coast.

I'm amending my previous statement. There are snowflakes mixed in with the rain. Still too warm for them to stick around on the ground, though.

Greetings from Zone A (Jersey Shore).

So far so good. 35mph winds, 50mph gusts. Main concern is power because the condominium community where I live is all electric -- everything.

Thats the problem with everything being electric. I hope you have make plans and stocked up on provisions.

the wind is about 90 mph in Atlantic City and gusting at about 110 mph. moving north.

lots of rattling outside.

i just heard police are evacuating the brooklyn bridge. i assume it's going to be closed if it hasn't already been.
