I just heard on the news that someone who qualifies for assistance can qualify for up to $20/hr in benefits. Why would anyone work a minimum wage job when they can get $20/hr from the taxpayers?

Just curious how do you determine what is a living wage for someone? Lets say you increase the minimum wage to 10 or even 15 dollars a hour if a person doesn't know how to handled money in a responsible manner or know how to live within their means they will never have a living wage no matter how much you increase their pay.

I have seen people who make 200k a year but spend 250k a year be flat broke. Think that was "responsible money management? What is your point? That lots of people, regardless of amount of money, suck at managing their money? Well ok then.

Second. Telling companies they must pay $10 an hour coupled with restructuring the welfare formula so that too bad so so sad if you work for $10/Hr and choose to have kids would effectively reform welfare.

I would set up a system of workfare, and just pay out cash at $10/Hr for anyone who needs help. You don't want to work, starve, you have kids and you're not feeding them,off to prison you go for child neglect.
