This is false. Walmart is actually one of the highest paid wholesalers in the nation. Even then, Walmart has still lobbied for an increase of the minimum wage as high as $11 dollars an hour.

Why would Walmart do this?

What exactly the price of Greed? More productivity, higher living standards, more innovation? Doesn't sound like much of a downside to me.

Sounds pretty good to me. The left attacks it as they hate all those things...

Look at any central American socialist shit hole in you will realize why.

highest paid? source? Read the first post in the thread. One store in Wisconsin is extracting @ $900,000/yr of social services (your taxes) to subsidize the low wages.

how does importing trinkets from communist china= innovation? And increased productivity? Don't even go there. It hasn't been tied to increased wages in many moons. Real wages haven't risen in 30+ years.

Yep. Greed shouldn't exist according to those economic models, but people are suffering more and wealth disparity is just as high.

If a business or corporation imports a good (be it a part for a computer or device they need to build) from another place where it's cheaper, this means that this business no longer has to waste resources developing these parts themselves. They can allocate these resources on other parts of their business. That increases productivity.

Don't even go there. Real wages haven't risen in 30+ years.

What exactly are you basing this off of?

Wal-Mart’s wages are so low that many of its workers must rely on food stamps and other government aid programs, costing taxpayers as much as $900,0000 at just one Wal-Mart Supercenter in Wisconsin.

Which goes to the idiocy of conservatives whining about ‘welfare.’

It’s telling the ignorance of most conservatives who believe Walmart keeps prices low solely as a result of their ‘marketing strategy,’ when in fact it’s due in part to a taxpayer subsidy.

there are hidden costs to buying cheap imported stuff frm Wall World as we have seen. Food stamps (publicly subsidizing their workers) & the outsourcing of jobs to china is another

Walmart makes close to $16 billion in profits and its executives brought home more than $10 million each. Six members of the Walton family, who own half the company, are worth more than the bottom 42% of American families combined. Those profits are made by keeping all workers in poverty.

If that is what you want to believe, it is your right to do so. It doesn't reflect anything regarding business. Sam Walton made his fortune by selling goods and services to low income people. Henry Ford build his business by decreasing the man hours it took to produce automobiles, thus making his cars affordable for average Americans. John D. Rockefeller built his empire by making sure his gasoline and oil products were available to the common man. Electronics are getting cheaper and cheaper every year, as Sony and Sharp are making more money on Flat-Screen TVs when they are $1,500 a set as oppose to nearly ten times that much.

Contrary to popular belief, there is no market demographic in selling items to only wealthy people.

Quit allowing IBT cards to be issued to people earning 165% of the poverty level, idjit.

Problem solved.

And hack fuckchops like you refuse to acknowledge that IBT cards are being tossed around at people who, by definition, don't need them and shouldn't be getting them.

But lets completely ignore the unbridled greed of the politician and the bureaucrat.

yeah. You can't ask the poor private company to pay a living wage but you sure as hell can demand that the taxpayer make-up the difference (taxpayer-funded social services). You can't make this stuff up

That's not a hidden cost. That is merely a function of the anti-business and production laws enacted in a country. Wages were always cheap in China (and any other developing nation), even before any Free Trade Agreements. Foreign manufactures have no problem exporting and keeping their jobs. Not to mention, their wages are higher than ours. Why isn't America getting their jobs?

As I keep saying, nothing happened with the wages in America. Something happened with the way America treated business.

Then you morons have the fucking gall to snivel about the taxpayer "subsidizing Wal-Mart".

Wal-Mart has long been criticized for its pattern of offering wages that force its workers to take advantage of public-assistance programs. This recent study argues that the criticism is warranted. The company had more workers enrolled in the state’s public health care program in last year’s last quarter than any other employer.

Nevertheless, Wal-Mart stands by its current wage levels and the “opportunities it provides for its workers.”

Hmmm. :eusa_think: Nothing to see here. :eusa_shhh: Move along now.

Idjit lolberals make the qualification threshold for food stamps 165% of the poverty level, then bitch when people (most of whom don't work at Wally World) take advantage of the program.

Does the nincompoopery ever end? :lmao:

So it is your contention that if assistance were cut off to these employees, the employers would pay a living wage?
My contention is that Wally World employees are but a small fraction of the total of people who are earning at the lower end of the wage scale, who also qualify for and/or do take food stamps.

[embarrassing nonsense deleted]

And that is the the point. Wal Mart workers represent a small fraction of the social entitlements Ronald Reagan expanded solely for the purpose of subsidizing low wage jobs. The filthy lowlife cocksucker more than doubled the earned income tax credit and ADMITTED the reason was to keep people in shitty jobs.
“The Earned Income Tax Credit is the best anti-poverty, the best pro-family, the best job creation measure to come out of Congress.” - NeoCon Ron, ca 1986 at his THIRD increase of EIC
The bobbleheaded cocksucking closeted New Dealer put another multi-billion dollar scam onto the white trash scum who lionize him, and he did it with a smile in broad daylight.

Wal Mart is not to blame and more than Apple is to blame for using tax law to fuck other taxpayers. The system is rotten to the core.
