Las Vegas police officer shot in hand after gunman fires on SUV, suspect in custody

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A man with a semi-automatic handgun walked up to a Las Vegas police SUV waiting at a red light and opened fire, striking one officer in the right hand, authorities said.

Police said the officer was taken to the University Medical Center's trauma center. He was hospitalized in good condition for the non-life threatening injury. The suspected gunman was later arrested.

Police called the shooting an ambush, although no motive or details were given.

The shooting happened about 12:15 p.m. Sunday, when two officers in a marked police SUV were headed to a dollar store for a reported disturbance in southeastern Las Vegas.

As the Ford SUV was waiting at a red light to turn left, a man with a semi-automatic handgun walked up and fired multiple shots.

The officer who was not hurt chased the suspect and arrested him at a 7-11 store parking lot on the same block.

The weapon was recovered from the scene.

Authorities emphasized that the arrest was made without officers shooting back. Just Kill The Bitch, save us taxpayers money!

If the suspect was apprehended without cops firing a single shot, then what's the picture of the man lying on the pavement bleeding out about? This couldn't have been the officer shot in the hand as cops don't wear Capri pants and the bleeding is coming from a leg not a hand. See, more media bullshit!

Metro doubled up the police after Fridays shooting. Good thing they did. OPs' picture is from some other incident (as Metro here, does not have 'Muskogee' painted on their cars........duhhh!!!!). Perp in the latest incident here in Vegas dropped his gun after firing and gave himself up on the road divider. One cop arrested the perp as the other cop was protecting a bystander. Perp is hispanic.
Good thing perp wasn't shot dead after dropping his gun, otherwise we'd have to deal with a new fucknut movement, #hispaniclivesmatter.........

Our Undersheriff said what he said in order to disabuse copycats of potential future shootings here. Our Sheriff, Lombardo, meanwhile, doubled up cops on patrol on Sat., the day after the first cop shooting here.
You would attempt to minimize this by ranting 'false narrative', even tho' our sheriff did not, by doubling up on patrol cops. 'Connect the dots' is not your strong suit.......idiot!
