Wacky Ethan Hawke Says It’s Hard To Sell Hollywood Movies Without Guns

'Gunners' are essentially correct that the problem in America is not firearms. The problem is the sickness in this society regarding violence in general and the fascination with firearms in particular. Why do crazies buy and AR15? Because they know it is an only slightly modified M16 and looks 'tough'. Any other semi-auto in 5.56 would do the same job, but it just isn't macho enough. That is a sick fascination. AK knockoffs are the same story. They look like what is seen in the movies and news.
Evidence is that psychology needs to be regulated, not firearms.

I love a good action suspense thriller as much as the next person, but plenty of my favorite films don't include guns.

God bless you always!!!

Nah, people just like cool looking guns, cool looking cars, clothes, houses, etc. It's not about violence, but violence can also look cool in movies. Violence is also cool looking in combat sports. We like cool shit.

What problem? Our gun murder rate has gone down 49%, our gun crime rate has gone down 75%....as more Americans buy, own and now carry guns......

You don't know what you are talking about....

Our actual problem is democrat politicians who keep letting violent criminals out of jail, even if they are violent and have multiple gun felonies...That is the problem, not law abiding gun owners...

We went from 200 million guns in private hands in the 1990s and 4.7 million people carrying guns for self defense in 1997...to close to 400-600 million guns in private hands and over 17 million people carrying guns for self defense in 2017...guess what happened...

--violent crime down 72%

Gun Homicide Rate Down 49% Since 1993 Peak; Public Unaware

Compared with 1993, the peak of U.S. gun homicides, the firearm homicide rate was 49% lower in 2010, and there were fewer deaths, even though the nation’s population grew. The victimization rate for other violent crimes with a firearm—assaults, robberies and sex crimes—was 75% lower in 2011 than in 1993. Violent non-fatal crime victimization overall (with or without a firearm) also is down markedly (72%) over two decades.

Do you realize that more Americans are killed by lawn mowers than by mass shooters with AR-15 civilian rifles? Do you want to ban lawn mowers?
