A Nation forged by war starting on July 4, 1776 and celebrated with Chinese fireworks every July 4th is the truest vision.

Others have visions of financial wealth and prosperity. But the prosperity has been largely dead since 2009 when the last big Ponzi scheme melted down.

For some there is a vision of peace compared with overseas turmoil and war. But crime and rioting in the streets is not peace. Criminal acts and the police responses to them have led to the rioting most recently. Still though, some neighborhoods have a semblance of peace, IF you can get into those neighborhoods yourself. The urban poor cannot.
