Vietnam demands Monsanto pays compensation for Agent Orange victims

what about all the bombings? how come they don't want $$$$ for that?
people were mangled/burned/lost limbs/eyes/etc from the bombings/napalm
how come they aren't suing for that?

So when I use a weed wacker at home I am using a weapon sweetie?
Are you stupid.

Not nearly as stupid as you.

So we used a weapon on our own troops sweetie?
We did.

Like DDT, Chlordae, and Mirex the risks were not known?

So DDT, Chlordane, and Mirex were used as chemical weapons?

We wanted to hurt our own troops?
We didn't use it to harm our troops, we used it to harm the enemy.
What, by exposing their positions so we could bomb and shoot them before they could kill us in the same ways ??

War is hell period, and the enemy will always suffer the heaviest toll if we can help it.

Like I said, we don't have a community activist/organizer in the white house any more, so our tax dollars are safe again. Thank goodness for that.

Defoliating the jungles in order to expose the enemy was a nessesary evil at that time in history. We had victims on our side as well from that crap, and if anything we ought to be seeking compensation from Vietnam for putting us in that situation to begin with.

Do these countries think that Obama is still in the Whitehouse ?? We don't have an apologist in the white house anymore, so they best just move on with their lives by not creating wars for other people to fight for them. That is the best healing any nation can accomplish in their futures.
Chemical warfare is only disgusting if Assad or Sadaam are doing it ?

Drunk already?

Clearly you went to public schools as you can't distinguish between defoliant and weapon darling.

The indiscriminate use of Agent Orange made it a weapon. Not one that killed right away. But a weapon nonetheless.
Nope.. It had to be an intentional use as a weapon in order to be determined as such. Defoliating is not a direct use of the defoliant that would determine it to be a chemical weapon.

Semantics. More Vietnam Vets died from exposure to Agent Orange than died from what you consider "weapons". And even though the Vietnam War ended more than 40 years ago, our veterans are still dying from what happened there.

Expose the enemy, and then harm them. Get it right now.

The extortion and pillaging of our treasury has ended under Trump, so deal with it.

most of the victims of agent orange are dead. are they paying the families.. my father died at 54...from lung cancer...he was a smoker but he was exposed to agent orange more than once in his two tours....

and what of the families of those who died early..what do they get?

Most of them got nothing. The gov't denied their claims for decades. Consequently, many victims died before there was even an admission that Agent Orange was responsible for the myriad of health issues.

My father-in-law died last year. But he suffered numerous ailments that were directly related to his exposure to Agent Orange. He received compensation for his exposure in 2016. He had been fighting for it for almost 40 years. The treatment of veterans has been horrific.
Yes he had to fight for it (not right we all know), yet the fight is a normal process because the government didn't intentionally harm the troops, yet it had exposed itself to millions wanting compensation as if it did intentionally expose them or their family members to a chemical (used as a weapon in their minds), so claims had to be carefully analyzed for proper diagnosis in order to keep fraudulent cases from piggy backing or jumping upon the bandwagon of the (claims robbing of the federal government trend), in order to get money out of our federal government for thousands of possible fraudulent claims being submitted as well.

Might you say that the citizens who would file false claims might have been the cause of your delays over the years ??? Can you imagine the false claims that are attempted in which drives the system into chaos, and delays real cases that are legit when something like that takes place ??

A weapon is anything that can be used to gain an advantage over your adversary. Information can be used as a weapon.

And in the case of Agent Orange it is indeed a chemical weapon. Your opinion to the contrary means squat.

(13) Toxic chemical. —
  • (A) In general. — The term "toxic chemical" means any chemical which through its chemical action on life processes can cause death, temporary incapacitation or permanent harm to humans or animals. A chemical used as a defoliant in which exposed the enemy positions in order to save the lives of countless American's upon such a unique battlefield was justified at the time. If faced with such a situation again, we will have hopefully learned the consequences of the fall out, and will issue our troops with proper gear to protect them in such an environment created by use of the defoliant as would be needed.

Case closed.

Utility and contract workers might be being exposed currently to the consequences of state and electric utilities spraying heavily their right of ways in order to control vegetation or growth. This should be an investigation worthy of investigating currently, because human health and the water systems are being exposed to the run off of these plant killing chemicals. Farm use should be under heavy scrutiny as well.

Good.

I hope it worked well.

do you see the post above yours? it was a reply....it was used to clear the path for the ground troops....they called for the drops..it was a deadly chemical...

i am sorry this subject is not one i enjoy discussing and perhaps should not have posted in this thread to begin with

it was used to clear the path for the ground troops...

Not to kill enemy troops.

Thanks for posting the proof that it wasn't a chemical weapon.
