Vatican warns Halloween is Anti-Christian

Why would a Koran believing Muslim parent encourage their children to participate in suicide bombings?

Stick to criticising your own, Sunni Man. Remember that two way street.

For some reason you keep wanting to derail this thread Colin

But the stated topic is Halloween and is it anti Christian

That's right, Haloween is just a fun day...

It has nothing to do with being Pagan....if the silly Churches did not tell us that this is some sort of Pagan ritual holy day we would be clueless to that fact.

Like the article says: "When Christians participate in Halloween, it sends a message to children that witchcraft, demonism, Satanism, and the occult are something fun, entertaining and harmless".

Why would a Bible believing Christian parent encourage their children to participate in a Satanic holiday?

It's not a satanic holiday. Go back and read the link I provided. Your article saying it's a satanic holiday doesn't make it one.

You have to understand the CODE. The CODE is that the words "Satan" and "Satanic" means anything the currently held religion doesn't approve of. Case in point...the Muslims call Christians satanic and the Christians call Muslims satanic and they call anything pagan satanic.

See how that works?

Christmas is acceptable, as is Thanksgiving - neither are connected to paganism. Halloween is. As a kid, I listened to lectures year in and year out in Church about Halloween. Always went trick or treating though - Mom always wanted me to dress as a pricess but Dad always let me be myself.... a devil. LOL.

Except Christmas in the Roman times was originally a Pagan holiday. The Christians took that holiday and turned it into their own.

And now you know.

You are only partially right Bodecea

Both Christians and Muslims call Pagans satanic.

And most Christians refer to Islam and Muslims as satanic.

But Muslims do not call Christians or their religion satanic.

We just say that Christians are in "error" or they are "misguided" :eusa_angel:

Blame Halloween on the Irish:

"The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom, and northern France, celebrated their new year on November 1. This day marked the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold winter, a time of year that was often associated with human death. Celts believed that on the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. On the night of October 31, they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. In addition to causing trouble and damaging crops, Celts thought that the presence of the otherworldly spirits made it easier for the Druids, or Celtic priests, to make predictions about the future. For a people entirely dependent on the volatile natural world, these prophecies were an important source of comfort and direction during the long, dark winter.

To commemorate the event, Druids built huge sacred bonfires, where the people gathered to burn crops and animals as sacrifices to the Celtic deities.

During the celebration, the Celts wore costumes, typically consisting of animal heads and skins, and attempted to tell each other's fortunes. When the celebration was over, they re-lit their hearth fires, which they had extinguished earlier that evening, from the sacred bonfire to help protect them during the coming winter.

By A.D. 43, Romans had conquered the majority of Celtic territory. In the course of the four hundred years that they ruled the Celtic lands, two festivals of Roman origin were combined with the traditional Celtic celebration of Samhain.

"The first was Feralia, a day in late October when the Romans traditionally commemorated the passing of the dead. The second was a day to honor Pomona, the Roman goddess of fruit and trees. The symbol of Pomona is the apple and the incorporation of this celebration into Samhain probably explains the tradition of "bobbing" for apples that is practiced today on Halloween.

By the 800s, the influence of Christianity had spread into Celtic lands. In the seventh century, Pope Boniface IV designated November 1 All Saints' Day, a time to honor saints and martyrs. It is widely believed today that the pope was attempting to replace the Celtic festival of the dead with a related, but church-sanctioned holiday. The celebration was also called All-hallows or All-hallowmas (from Middle English Alholowmesse meaning All Saints' Day) and the night before it, the night of Samhain, began to be called All-hallows Eve and, eventually, Halloween. Even later, in A.D. 1000, the church would make November 2 All Souls' Day, a day to honor the dead. It was celebrated similarly to Samhain, with big bonfires, parades, and dressing up in costumes as saints, angels, and devils. Together, the three celebrations, the eve of All Saints', All Saints', and All Souls', were called Hallowmas.

Just because an upstart religion calls it Satanic doesn't make it so. It's only the "book" people who believe in Satan anyways.

Lol. You betcha.

Well, my kids don't practice witchcraft or sorcery, so I think they're pretty safe from eternal damnation for wearing a princess & batman costume.

I didn't take them as babies, I thought that was over the top. They couldn't eat candy, they usually had runny noses, what's the point?

It is what you make of it. I think it's a little absurd to huddle in your homes with lambs' blood on the door jambs as the Jews did during the first passover, when God took the life of every firstborn Egyptian...at the same time, if people don't care to observe it for religious reasons, why does anyone care?

And the whole "Christmas and Easter are pagan holidays" thing is so old. They may have started out as pagan holidays, but they are what you make of them. If people are now celebrating the birth and re-birth of Christ instead of winter solstice, I guess it's not a pagan holiday anymore.

It is old, because the Pagans had it first. Does that hurt you or something?

And people are celebrating commericialism more than anything now, not Christ.

precisely and when i was a child we attended church every sunday and it was NEVER mentioned by the priests or pastors that halloween was satanic....this is something new, this past decades where we have seen fundamentalists or vatican cry outrage....

there is no such thing as witches that fly on broomsticks. irl

...this is make believe...

most don't even play the witches roll on halloween...they are french maids, playboy bunnies, ***** vader, richard nixon, bill clinton, the tin man, and superman or a ballerina or snow white or cinderella...

this is faux outrage....

Thanks, we've known this for a really long time. And it's old, old, old. Find another mantra.

I'm still waiting on Sunni to tell me which of us worship the Devil since we went trick or treating, and let our kids do it too.

I don't need to find another mantra. The truth is the truth. They didn't it call Christmas but it was still their holiday. Whether you like to admit it or not.

muggle........:doubt:

You Didn't Know Harry Potter Was Jewish? - TIME

Adam moves to enlighten me, offering an amazingly complete dual cosmology of Harry Potter and the Chosen People. Jews, he explains, are the wizards. The non-Jews are the muggles. And Israel's wizards are engaged in a kind of invisible spiritual warfare (just like in Rowling's books) that most muggles can't even see, much less understand. Rowling may be a muggle, says Adam, but she knew what she was doing.

Sunni will love this.

Tom Sanguinet, former high priest in the Celtic tradition of Wicca (witchcraft) said "The modern holiday we call Halloween has its origins in the full moon closest to November 1, the witches’ New Year. It was a time when the "spirits" (demons) were supposed to be at their peak power and revisiting the earth planet." He went on to say, "Halloween is purely and absolutely evil, and there is nothing we ever have or will do that would make it acceptable to the Lord Jesus."

As evil prevails, Americans have embraced an evil day of Satan, with the pranks of 'would be' hoodlums, combined with 'demon faces' on pumpkins, clothing of 'death' being worn, and calling it fun. When Christians participate in Halloween, it sends a message to children that witchcraft, demonism, Satanism, and the occult are something fun, entertaining and harmless.
Deuteronomy 18:10-14 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you. You must be blameless before the LORD your God. The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the LORD your God has not permitted you to do so.

Halloween, its origins and customs.

Partly right but you've omitted information.

Halloween's origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-in).

The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom, and northern France, celebrated their new year on November 1. This day marked the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold winter, a time of year that was often associated with human death. History of Halloween - History.com

Whatever Halloween started out as, it's clear that it's been Americanized and commercialized to death and has changed in it's meaning. Are there some who use Halloween as some kind of 'occult' day? Of course and there always will be. But for the vast majority, nope. It isn't anti-Christian or pro-Christian . . . . it's just fun and that's how most people see it.

Game, Set, Match.

When you as a Muslim make criticisms of something so fucking minor, when your own religion practises such abhorrent beliefs, I take offence. I have every right to point out your Hypocrisy. Cant accept it? Go forth and multiply then!
