US Politics used to be a lot crazier and more violent

Back in the 1950's, this film about a Presidential election campaign between Bluto and Popeye shows that politics could get pretty rough back in the day.

But I do like the way that both candidates were willing to do what they could do to earn the vote of the constituent.

Nowadays, people whine about mean tweets, Popeye didn't let a lot worse phase him at all.

 
Now in reality the 1964 RNC Convention was rough. It was an all-out brawl with people getting hit with folding chairs. The Goldwater faction versus the Rockefeller faction. Had some good speeches by those who knew how to make one. Good public speaking is a dying art.

Popeye or Blutto would far outshine any presidential front runners in today's world.
