1. The video is for events on Sept 26. The reference week for the Sept data was Sep 9-15 and for October was Oct 7-13. So only work in those weeks would count as Employed as far as the UE rate. For the official jobs numbers, those people would have to be on an actual payroll for the pay period that contained either of those to weeks to show up in either months data.

2. The selected sample would have to have included those areas and some of those people in order to cause any distortion in either survey. It's doubtful that that small a number of people would have any affect on the numbers.

3. Seriously? You think demonstrations like that would make any significant change out of millions?

Boeing is planning a massive layoff, but a pizza company and a massage franchise are planning on hiring. Good trade off, right?

Who wants to bet that the unemployment will go above 8% next month.

Oh, there's a good chance it will, due to more people entering/re-entering the labor force. And that's actually a good sign of recovery.

Should we all invest in the stock market when unemployed people start to look for work again on the assumption that they know the future that others far more educated would not dare predict?????????????

If they hired thousands for 4 hours 1 day a week in every major city for a couple of months it would make a dent in the numbers but no real help for workers. Combine that with Obama waiving layoff notifications a few months ago saying the government will cover all employer cost incurred from not laying people off.

I really don't think it would make that much of a dent. It wouldn't affect payroll employment at all (unless they are included in the official payrolls), and since the household sample is only 60,000, it would be unlikely for a large percentage to be captured in the survey. Blips like that are just unlikely to be reflected..the design is to capture larger trends, not small sporadic variations.

It's possible there could be an effect, but I really don't think it's very likely.

Amazing how hard cons are working to make the election look as though it is not valid. Cons, here is a news flash. Romney lost. With all the efforts to block the dem vote, he lost. With hundreds of millions of $ resulting from Citizens United going to elect romney, he lost. And he lost big, with over 300 electoral votes going to Obama, Romney lost big. Next.

Yup, kismy. And if they all had minds as made up as yours, unemployment numbers would be bs. And if they all believed as hard as you believe, unemployment numbers would be terrible. BUT, most of the people are in the REAL world, not the bat shit crazy con world. So the unemployment numbers are what they are. Simple as that.
