Trump says late Pavarotti is 'a great friend' - The Washington Post

“Through the ages, your country has been a beacon of artistic and scientific achievement,” Trump read aloud.

“From Venice to Florence, from Verdi to Pavarotti,” he continued before looking away from his script, and adding “friend of mine. Great friend of mine.”

uh, Pavarotti is not your friend Donnie, he's been dead for ten years.

Pavarotti died in 2007.
Is it so hard to believe that he and Trump could have met and been friends?

Your post makes no sense. Just another liberal on Prep H grasping for wipes.

And btw...wise black men don't vote to stay on the Plantation under the Democrats ;-)

He also admires the ongoing work of Frederik Douglas.

Drumpf is batshit.

Hopelessly impetuous. Can't read a scripted speech without trying to inject his own hapless narcissism, always trying to fluff up his own personal insecurities even to the point of name-dropping the dead.

Can't seem to help himself. Pathetically smarmy.

It looks like you have dementia or you can't comprehend what you read.

It would appear "a great friend" is Rumpese for "yet another guy I hired and stiffed, and then used for my own purposes anyway"....

>> Trump had taken to playing Pavarotti's rendition of "Nessun Dorma," a song from the final act of Puccini's famous opera Turandot, at stops along the campaign trail. The song ends with a repetition of the Italian word "Vincero," which translates to "I will win."

During the campaign, Pavarotti's widow, Nicoletta Mantovani, demanded that then-candidate Trump stop playing the works of her late husband at his campaign events.

In a letter from Pavarotti's widow and his three daughters the family told the Trump campaign that, "[T]he values of brotherhood and solidarity that Luciano Pavarotti upheld throughout his artistic career are incompatible with the world vision of the candidate Donald Trump."

There are other reasons to doubt the supposed friendship between Pavarotti and Trump. One account from a 2002 report in the Guardian claims that Pavarotti once gave such a lackluster performance at one of Trump's Atlantic City casinos that Trump demanded Pavarotti return his fee for the event. << --- Pavarotti's Widow Sang a Different Tune
Fucking self-serving manipulative asshole.

NBC 7.22.16 >> "We learned today that the aria 'Nessun dorma' performed by Luciano Pavarotti is being used [on] the Donald Trump campaign soundtrack," Nicoletta Mantovani wrote in a letter co-signed by three of the late superstar's daughters.

"We remind you that the values of brotherhood and solidarity that Luciano Pavarotti upheld throughout his artistic career are incompatible with the world vision of the candidate Donald Trump," it added.

Mantovani was married to the superstar tenor from 2003 until he died of pancreatic cancer in 2007 at age 71.

.... The Rolling Stones, Adele and R.E.M and other artists requested Trump to stop using their music, too.

.... On Friday, the estate of the late George Harrison complained at the "offensive" use of the Beatles' "Here Comes the Sun" at the convention.

(Tweet from the Harrison Estate:
"If it had been "Beware of Darkness" then we MAY have approved it!"
 Excellent point. Let's hear it.

Watch out now

of greedy leaders

So when Obama spoke about the 57 states or the Marine corpse, did he have dementia then or was he just an uneducated idiot?

Desperate Democrats. Lol!

From the Tweetosphere:

  • "Chef Boyardee. The best chef. Great friend of mine. He cooks for me all the time. Love his food."
  • Maybe he'll invite Pavarotti and Frederick Douglass to attend a WH dinner.
  • Little known fact: Trump still gets together every weekend with Joe Paterno and Luciano Pavarotti for Trump's Little Italy club.
  • Trump should have asked Pavarotti to sing at his inauguration.

He can still be a friend of his... he's just a dead friend

It could have been worse actually --- he could have called Giuseppe Verdi a "great friend" --- after pronouncing his name as "Vertee" to rhyme with "dirty"....
