Ukraine has warned that it could target all shipping out of Russian and Russian-occupied ports and signalled its readiness to fight on the Black Sea, after Moscow’s declaration of a naval blockade and bombardment of Ukrainian ports.

The defence ministry in Kyiv issued a statement saying that from midnight on Thursday, all shipping plying Russian-held ports “may be considered by Ukraine as such carrying military cargo with all the associated risks”. The announcement mirrored a threat from Moscow on Wednesday against all ships using Ukrainian ports.

“The fate of the cruiser Moskva proves that the defence forces of Ukraine have the necessary means to repel Russian aggression at sea,” the ministry said, in a reference to the sinking of the flagship of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet last year.

“Ukrainian-made maritime drones are capable of destroying stationary and moving targets anywhere in the Black Sea,” a Ukrainian interior ministry adviser, Anton Gerashchenko, said on Twitter.

Putin started all of this because existing sanctions have made it very difficult to trade with other countries because of Russia's isolation from international financial systems and the impossibility to buy maritime insurance, and this additional risk will make it almost impossible.

What is the problem wth this if Russia has invaded them and threatend their ships? Take it fron me, turning the other cheek doesn't work.

What clearly doesn't work is taking advice from you! You've destroyed everything that was yours.

The situation with the Russian blockade has been defused.

Ukraine may reconsider if/when the Russian navy retaliates.
There is simply no way around the sanctions, no matter what brain dead deals Guetteres advocates. If Putin doesn't allow Ukraine to sell its grain, Russia will be out of business of selling grain, fertilizer or ammonia to the third world.
