I am talking about the statements of the Russians themselves.

First. Putin spent weeks telling us he was not going to invade. Then he invaded. This was according to his first statement intended to end persecution of ethnic Russians in the disputed regions as well as the rest of Ukraine.

When he had no proof of these assertions. The story changed. In a couple days it was to Denazify Ukraine.

He also threatened the West if they came to Ukraine’s aide.

When it was pointed out that the closest group to Nazi’s in Ukraine were on his side within the disputed territory. Well then it was a special military operation intended to end the corruption within Ukraine.

A couple days later the Russian Foreign Minister claimed that no invasion had taken place.

The Russians claimed Genocide. Their proof was a mass grave that had been in the disputed territory since 2014. One filled with casualties of the initial outbreak of fighting.

Every claim made is untrue. And these are not from the Ukrainian side. These are from Russia.

Russia announces a humanitarian agreement to allow Civilians to leave the cities. An hour later Russia starts shelling the routes that were agreed to. Russia says they had to. Ukraine was using them to move reinforcements to the cities.

Again. These are Russian statements. Not propaganda from Ukraine or whatever Government or corporate conspiracy you are blaming.

People like to claim that we don’t think for ourselves. Well to think for yourself you need information, and the source is always best. Denouncing a book you have never read is childish and idiotic. As one example.

How can you claim to think for yourself if you aren’t even aware of what Russia is saying?

The problem is that that is just not going to happen. The problem with war is it rapidly becomes a situation where neither side can afford to lose.

Putin not only has to win, he has to get the world to accept it and lift the sanctions. This means the future of his country depends on winning.

Ukraine has to win. They know subjugation at the hands and nonexistent mercies of the Russians is the alternative. For Ukraine accepting the idea of neutrality is unthinkable. It means being a victim of Russia at the whim of whatever madman is in charge.

The world won’t lift sanctions for that. And Russia needs the sanctions lifted. They are seeing the collapse of their economy. In a year, no more, that collapse will be irreversible. Russia falls again.

There is no way Putin survives that. He won’t even consider it. It would mean his family becomes the next Romanovs. Dead at the hands of the next Government.

There is no endgame where Ukraine is neutral. Ukraine would not tolerate it even if Putin would. If Putin was inclined he would have accepted it before the invasion when NATO said that Ukraine would not be a member.

I honestly think the odds are even money that the Nukes fly in the next year. Putin has Gambled. There is no way he wins. He can’t afford to lose. So the only question is how he handled the downfall of Russia?

We can always khope that rational people in Putin’s government find some way to remove him from office.

I don’t think that’s going to happen. There have been reports that the head of the FSB has already been placed under house arrest, and raids have been conducted at FSB offices. So the Purge of Government personnel has begun, and Putin has doubled down.

Secondly, as I pointed out in another thread. One thing we’re missing, the names of the new “countries” recognized by Putin in Eastern Ukraine. The Peoples Republic is in both nation names. Peoples republic goes hand in hand with every Communist country there is. The Peoples Republic of China, the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea.

The Soviet is being recreated right before our eyes, and that isn’t good news for the Russians. Or anyone really. Only this time the fall will happen much sooner. It also explains why China is staying aligned with Russia, especially with the Sanctions. China will be the center of the Socialist Universe. Not Moscow. The further Russia falls, the more that China can get. Russia and the new Peoples Republics will be Satellites of China before too much longer.

Putin will be purging anyone who is even suspected of disloyalty. Look at the pictures of Putin’s meetings. Always Video, or with the others on the end of a long table, away from him. Keep potential assassins away.

Putin isn’t even hiding how frightened he is of his own people anymore. There are no “trusted” associates. Only his bodyguards, and they are probably watched very carefully by others.

The Soviets are back, only they haven’t taken the name yet. But for all intents and purposes, Putin is like Stalin, in complete control. Anyone who isn’t full throated with their love and support, will be purged.

I posted one of the analysis but there are more. The Russians claimed mass murders but the real evidence is just not there.

For instance, the UN investigation found "mass graves" but most in the graves were old people that had died of natural causes and were buried there because the turmoil prevented normal funerals.

I think we have all learned that Russia has little or no credibility.

I am not an apologist of the corrupt Ukraine regime but facts are facts.

However, regardless of what happen in the past, there is no excuse for Russia to be doing what it is doing now to the civilians.

In my opinion Russia may take over Ukraine but what will they have? A country with largely destroyed cities filled with guerrilla fighters willing to make the lives of the occupying Russian forces hell.

Putin would be smarter to just accept a deal where Ukraine would stay out of NATO and be a neutral nation. Then he could let Europe and the United States rebuild Ukraine. We would be happy to get involved in rebuilding as there would be enough corruption to make EVERYBODY rich except poor Ukrainians and of course American taxpayers.

Maybe Joe could send Hunter over to Ukraine again to work on some wonderful deals to enrich the Biden Family.
