Uh oh, we have another little Trump Foundation "scandal" brewing.

Report: Trump's foundation relies wholly on other people's money

In 2007, Trump reportedly used the foundation’s money pay for a 6-foot painting of himself that his wife bought at an auction (was it tax deductible?). According to the Post, the IRS prohibits a charity’s officers from using the group’s money to buy things for their own benefit.

The foundation was also reportedly used to funnel money to fulfill promises Trump made on his TV show "The Apprentice." NBCUniversal donated $500,000 in 2012, enough to cover the "personal" contributions Trump pledged on-air (was it tax deductible?).

The report also said that the barebones foundation has misrepresented donations it’s made in the past. The Post contacted four charities that the foundation claimed it had donated to that said they had never received any money.

OK, so far, 25 thousand for the Attorney General of Florida. 35 thousand for the Attorney General of Texas. And now, 500,000 thousand for "this and that". I see $560,000.00 and growing.

What happened to peanuts?

Think Hillary can hire them to sing Trump's Praises?

USMB right wingernuts think I make this stuff up. But it writes itself. How do they explain this?
The Trump foundation like the Clinton Foundation is another way of enhancing the brand.

It doesn't make sense to Republicans that people can do something because they believe helping other people is a good thing. That someone, like Gates for instance, or that right wingers, like the Annenbergs could create the Gates Foundation or the Annenberg Foundation because they really want to help people. The conservative Annenbergs never took money from their foundation, Bill Gates doesn't take money from his foundation and the Clinton's don't take money from their foundation.

But Trump uses the Trump foundation as a tax shelter and a slush fund. How do we know? From IRS fines and news investigations.

And there has to be something, something we can get on the Clintons. 30 years of GOP conspiracies and hit pieces can't be wrong. There must be something. And as long as the GOP can spend tax payer money, they will look for it. For as long as it take. For as much as the tax payers are willing to pay.

What you're saying is essential correct.

The Donald J. Trump foundation is a private foundation. It was founded in 1988 with purpose of giving away the proceeds of the book Trump: "The Art of the Deal". As a private foundation, the Trump Foundation gives money to others; it runs no charitable programs of its own. Unlike the Clinton Foundation, a public foundation, a private foundation is not required to release information to the public, although the Trump Foundation does release information from time to time. Also a private foundation is not allowed to collect donations from the public. The Trump Foundation is not required to make just charitable contributions. In fact much of the money from the foundation goes to individuals and business, not charities. However, the foundation is taxed on donations to non-charities. Private foundations do not have donors. They have clients.

Although Trump often refers to the foundation as a charitable foundation, it give little money to charity. Trump has not contributed to the foundation since 2008. The foundation essential gives away money from clients. There are certainly tax benefits to the foundation.

Trump claims about the foundation are mostly false. He has compared it to the Melinda and Bill Gates Foundation which is also a private foundation but unlike the Trump Foundation, almost all of it's distribution of funds are charitable.

In September 2016, the Washington Post reported that the foundation had to pay a $2,500 fine for violating IRS rules regarding political contributions by charitable organizations when it made a donation in support of Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi's election campaign.[ The $25,000 contribution received widespread scrutiny, because Bondi's office was at the time reviewing fraud allegations regarding Trump University but later dropped the investigation.

What many people don't understand about Trump is that he has been buying politicians and paying off bureaucrats since his earliest day in the business. Fred Trump, his father did this his whole career and Donald followed in his fathers footsteps. Trump is not ashamed of this activity but rather brags about it in his books and interviews.
