If the consensus would be that the U.S would have to go back, then why wouldn't you decimate the enemy before you left? It makes no sense. His opinion appears to be in the minority.

Yes, the threat of terrorism is again rising. What other result would there be when America eventually left? All you have to do is defend your southern border and stop allowing immigration from certain shyteholes. Contain it to a regional issue where U.S can still exude some influence without risking soldiers and so much economic capital.

The U.S isn't going back (anytime soon). If they did. it will be in very select, tightly controlled situations with small bands of elite groups or just drones. China is too powerful now and they will make it hell for any country trying to re-engage. That is the cost of propping up the CCP that many of us warned about for so long. They deseve credit for their rapid rise as the West smiled and approved.

I have a better idea: Maybe we should offer the Taliban an exchange of a couple thousand liberal Biden-supporting Democrats for those American hostages hiding in Afghanistan.
