This is what's cool about marathon running. Total amateurs run the same course as the pros and every once in awhile the impossible happens. Sarah Sellers, a full time nurse anesthetist training before and after her 12 hour work days got runner up in the Boston freaking Marathon! That earned her $75 thousand and a berth in the Olympic trials. Yes it was a brutally cold and windy day. But guess what? All the pros and amateurs were running in the same conditions. Sarah Sellers is an inspiration to amateur athletics. What she did was phenomenal.

With little marathon experience, Sarah Sellers stuns running world with Boston finish

With the crap nurses have to do every day, the marathon probably seemed like a leisurly day off.

No question nurses work their tails off but I can assure you there is nothing leisurely about running a marathon especially at around 6 minutes per mile which was her pace.
