Trump: Middle East Would Be Better Off With Saddam, Gaddafi

The invasion of Iraq is on us.

Libya? Not so much- there was an actual popular uprising in Libya(unlike Iraq) and the United States provided support only after other NATO countries provided their assistance.

I shed no tears for the deaths of either Saddam or Qaddaffi- but I do recognize that they kept Islamic extremists repressed and relatively harmless.
For you and Rye Gulper:

Role of Hillary Clinton in Libya war exposed

Beginning in Spring 2011, NATO carried out a bombing campaign for seven months, leaving Libya a failed state overrun by extremist groups. The official government now only controls the eastern portion of the country, with Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL), Ansar al-Sharia and local militant groups controlling other areas.

In the run-up to the intervention, however, Clinton became convinced that overthrowing Gaddafi would lead to a democracy, according to multiple sources interviewed by The New York Times.

Former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates said Clinton was a major influence in President Barack Obama’s decision to go to war. Gates recounted Obama once telling him a debate in the Oval Office on the issue was split “51-49.”

“I’ve always thought that Hillary’s support for the broader mission in Libya put the president on the 51 side of the line for a more aggressive approach,” Gates said.

Gates urged for the opposite, he told the newspaper, telling Obama and others that the Pentagon already had enough on their plate.

“Can I finish the two wars I’m already in before you guys go looking for a third one?” Gates recalled saying.

He's right insofar as what has happened after obama. Iraq was stable until obama pulled the rug out and wasted the lives and limbs of all of those soldiers of ours.
Obama is a creepy killer.

Now that is bizarrely revisionist history.

What Trump was saying is directly attributable to the invasion of Iraq under George Bush. ISIS formed during Bush's presidency, and the vast majority of U.S. soldiers who died in Iraq died while Bush was their commander in chief.

Senator Obama ran on a platform of extricating American troops from Iraq- and he followed through on his campaign promise. The government of Iraq wanted U.S. troops out and demanded that American troops be subject to Iraqi law if they stayed. Iraq was indeed stable- and lost that stability due to the corrupt and partisan Iraqi government.

The invasion of Iraq and the destruction of Libya were the products of incredible American ignorance .. and the people of those nations and region paid the bill.

The invasion of Iraq is on us.

The notion that the Libyan people wanted Gadaffi gone is a lie .. that can be easily proven.

The world's largest demonstration and protest FOR Gadaffi and AGAINST NATO and US bombing that killed countless innocent people.

Clearly, Obama lied. His administration lied its way into war no differently than the Bush Administration.

Sorry- Youtube is not proof.

Yes there was a popular uprising against Qaddaffi- and yes, the United States only joined in support after our European allies joined in first.

I would not be surprised that Hillary Clinton was involved in our decision to support the war in Iraq. It was a mistake.

Not as big a mistake as invading Iraq- but it was a mistake.

"It's not even a contest."

Donald Trump said Sunday that the Middle East would be more stable if Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein and Libyan autocrat Muammar Gaddafi were still in power.

When asked on NBC's "Meet the Press" if he thought the region would be "safer" with Hussein and Gaddafi ruling Iraq and Libya, respectively, the real estate mogul and ersatz Republican presidential candidate replied, "It's not even a contest."

Trump reasoned that had the United States not forced Hussein out of power in Iraq, the Islamic State would not have come into existence.

Amen! I totally agree! Saddam kept the lid on that cesspool.

In a macro sense, he's right, the middle east as a whole was FAR better off when Saddam and Gadaffi held a stranglehold over their respective countries. In a micro sense, I would suggest that things haven't really changed much for Libya and Iraq. For instance, now the Kurds are being killed by ISIS instead of Iraq, but they are still being killed.

Youtube is proof when demonstrating real events. The demonstration against Obama was a real event.

Additionally, Obama lied his way into war with the Viagra Rape Story that he and Susan Rice took to the UN, which then ordered a no-fly zone and massive bombing of a densely packed nation.

Additionally, Obama used Al Queda terrorists as his ground troops .. terrorists who admitted killing US troops in Iraq.

Gadaffi's government did more for the Libyan people than your government does for you.

No disrespect intended .. you're simply wrong on this.

Trump supported both actions, Iraq and Libya.

He is now lying about both in typical, pathological fashion.

Link?.

Don't play dumb. You've had the links before.

And the link "supporting" the idea that Trump supported the Iraqi invasion actually demonstrated that he had not given it any thought and was really just blowing off the question.

Meanwhile it was Hillary's job to seriously consider the issue and provide balance to the executive branch and she supported and voted for the invasion.

Of course, that's a textbook Trumpbot spin.

Says the man that won't post the quote he is supposedly referencing.

'Regime Change' is a dangerous and illegal policy. The U.S. has no right to declare it on any nation. The U.S. and its allies are responsible for the horrific carnage we're seeing in the Middle East. Most Americans refuse to acknowledge that, but it is the reality.

In fact, in the case of Iraq especially, leaders in the U.S. and allied nations should have stood trial for crimes against humanity. The only reason it hasn't happened, is because the U.S./West owns the international court system. They don't get prosecuted for war crimes. It's a rigged system. So Trump is right for the most part. The constant U.S. meddling has created so much bloody carnage and chaos over there.

The war was legally justified.

To be fair, Correll probably couldn't follow the links, and Trump has no clue what he did yesterday.

Can't bring yourself to agree with him, even though you do.

So the GOP base is agreeing with Trump that Bush and the GOP are fuck-ups? Agreeing with a swindler? So because swindler Trump is pointing out the obvious, they want to vote for him? Why now. Democrats have been pointing out what fuck-ups the GOP are for over a decade. They get it only now?

Says the man planning on voter for Iraq War supporter HIllary.

Hard to believe I agree with trump. Harder to believe repubs support him after years of them supporting those wars.

Says the man planning to vote for Iraqi War supporter Hillary Clinton.

Yes sadly trump is aweful on everything else.

Oh? REally? YOu support using Third World Labor to undermine US worker wages?

Because HIllary does and Trump does not.

Yes, I agree the middle east as a whole was better off with those two assholes in charge of their countries (that's why I said he's right for morons like you who can't read)

However, I think there is ample evidence to suggest that both were involved with terrorists at various times of their lives so don't really have a problem with the US taking them out.

I hate to agree with Trump about anything- but he is right- the world in general- and the Middle East in particular- would be better off if Saddam Hussein had been left in power.

Kudos to you for having the intellectual honestly to admit that you agree with Trump on an issue.

But, you're still planning on voting for the candidate that was part of the decision to invade.

So you going to vote for Trump now, far left drone?

AS I have been saying all along Trump is a "progressive" acting like a "progressive", the only reason the far left hates him is because of the letter behind his name.

IMO, if we learned anything from Iraq, it is that muslims generally DON'T produce liberal democracies and we should not have expected Libya to improve just because Gadaffi fell.

Especially in light of how quiet he had gotten in his old age.

Trump usED third world labor.

HIs policy platform is about changing the rules to fight that.

HIllary is all about continuing the policy of allowing employers to use Third World Labor to undermine US wages.

There is nothing crazy about tariffs.

Unless you believe those same economists that predicted that Free Trade would make US industry more competitive and lead to a rebound in jobs and wages.

More and more people are agreeing with Trump every day. Still think nobody's gonna vote for him?
It's true there are a lot of retards out there. No doubt about it.

Trump is making more shit up. He's saying Hussein was a great guy who killed terrorists, which is the exact opposite of the truth. Hussein was a sponsor of terror. He had terrorist training camps in Iraq.

It's unbelievable how many of you Chumps line up to drink Trump's piss when he is telling gigantic whoppers like that.

It is not a complete whopper- but Trump of course is broadly ignorant about the Middle East.

Saddam Hussein did sponsor terrorism- but in a very limited fashion and he kept it under his own control- what Saddam did was stamp out radical Islamists in Iraq. He wasn't killing 'terrorists'- he was killing anyone who could be a threat to his dictatorship- especially anyone who might be a radical Islamist.

Removing Saddam from power- and removing the entire infrastructure and army that Saddam had built up left a power vacuum that was exploited by Iran, allowed Iraq to become a rallying ground and training area for terrorists, and allowed ISIS to be created.

So, in your opinion, he is right but for the wrong reasons, and you plan to vote for the person who was wrong, for the wrong reasons instead.

Incredibly I agree.

We foolishly believed that they would be capable of quickly and easily adopting a liberal democratic government.

That was US being ignorant.

We need to keep in mind for future occupations of Muslim nations, that if we try to install a democratic government, that we will be fighting against the natural inclination of the population.
