The only thing Trump did to stop the spread of the virus during the first two crucial months of the epidemic was to ban entry from China. It may have kept the Chinese out but sure as hell didn't keep the virus out. He downplayed the virus, calling it just the flu, a democrat hoax, and claimed several times it's all under control when nothing was under control. The day he was ridiculing the media for their dire predictions on Feb 27, the virus was loose and spreading and Americans were dying but Trump had it all under control. The fact is he had no plan for dealing with the epidemic, He abolished the group that was responsible for planing a response to a pandemic in 2018. By the time Trump suspend travel from Europe and other countries on March 15th, there were 4500 cases in the US and 171 deaths. The virus had spread to over 20 states. Cases were increasing by over 5,000 a day and contact tracing, testing and monitoring was at standstill because of the lack test kits.
