Claudius wasn't a great emperor, either. He looks better because the guys before and after him were truly awful. (That would be Caligula and Nero, guys whose names you DO remember because they were so awful).

So probably the guy who compares to Claudius is Obama. He's kind of mediocre, but he wasn't a crazy person.

Okay, let's look at those.

We ran up 10 Trillion dollars in debt because Bush gave tax breaks to Billionaires while fighting a war. The crazy thing was putting a war on a credit card, not who got the bill.

The Middle east wasn't ours to have. We don't have an empire, but if you want to go off and fight to build one, have at it.

You'll end up like everyone else who tried to build an empire over there...
