Listening to talking head defending Obama's Executive Order process used that same old worn out argument "well Obama has done fewer Executive Orders the GWB..." and that obscures the reason for concerns about Obama's EOs!

There’s just one problem. Obama has issued fewer executive orders than any other president since Franklin Roosevelt, according to Gerhard Peters, co-founder of the <a American Presidency Project at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Peters and his co-founder, John Woolley, are among the nation’s leading authorities on the use of presidential executive power, going back to George Washington. “In the modern era that most presidential scholars believe began with Franklin Roosevelt in 1933, Obama has issued the least number of executive orders per year,” Peters tells Newsweek, after updating and crunching out the numbers.

But NewsWeek and talking heads get it wrong!

Wrong because it isn't the quantity but the KINDS of EOs !

Republicans argue that the President is breaching his constitutional power by side-stepping the legislative process.
Obama has used executive actions as a way to bypass a deeply divided Congress, avoiding inaction on issues the White House
has made hallmarks of the President's second term agenda.
So far, the Republican-controlled House has passed two bills aimed at curbing executive orders by the President, neither of which have gone anywhere in the Democratic-controlled Senate.

It's not the number of EO's.

It is the result of those EO's and how he has violated the Constitution with them.

You may have only driven drunk one time.. But you killed someone that one time you did.

Now do you understand?

300 executive orders renaming interstates and naming federal buildings is by no means the same as executive orders that alters laws that affect all Americans.

You didn't read the entire comment did you?
My position is the same as yours... it's not quantity but quality issue!
Obama has with EOs threatened not only our daily lives but how the 3 branches of government work!

Have you read the posts above this one? Are you getting it now? It's the context of those EO's that is the problem, not the number. When they are designed to bypass Congress and alter laws that are on the books, that is unconstitutional. The laws can only be altered by Congressional approval.

The president knows what he is doing and he knows it is illegal.

Yep, if the EO were things that would help the economy I am fine with but the ones he is passing like just letting every tom , dick and harry in our country with a swipe of a pen I have a problem with that !

Totally agree the types of EOs is the issue... I mean here is Obama saying in one breath "so sue me" then signing EOs that He has already taken a series of executive actions, including an order requiring federal contractors to pay a higher minimum wage and initiating steps to lower carbon emissions in coal-fired power plants.

So Obama without considering the job losses the higher minimum wage will bring (which only affected These jobs:
include food service workers in federal buildings, people doing laundry at military bases and people cleaning floors at post offices,” said Amy Traub, a senior policy analyst at Demos, a left-leaning think tank. “Like the rest of the economy, federal contract jobs are increasingly low-wage jobs.”
Let's take "people cleaning floors"....
A private for profit company will now look at the $10.80 (people forget employer also pays equally SS/Medicare)/hour for cleaning floors and ask..hmmmm
for less then $1,000 I can get a robot to clean the floors"
iRobot: Roomba Robots..
Annual savings: $21,000! Why shouldn't I support minimum wage now of $10.80... let people go and save $21,000!
