Top 1% Pays 45% of California Income Taxes

45% seems about right... If you are wealth you are enjoying the business benefit of a stable economy, security and other government services more...

In 2007 the richest 1% of the American population owned 34.6% of the country's total wealth, and the next 19% owned 50.5%. Thus, the top 20% of Americans owned 85% of the country's wealth and the bottom 80% of the population owned 15%

And actually there share has increased since then, so if you thing it is wealth distribution is working think again...

Truth is the top 1% have the money to pay the taxes... The US has some of the 1st world's worst distribution of wealth.... This show trickle down is bullshit and there alternative is to incease the rich wealth by more...

You must be fools...
The real fools are those who think that the "rich", AKA the top 1%, will just stick around and keep footing an ever increasing bill. If you think this is not going to happen, look at what is already happening. Many of the 1% are leaving states with high taxes for states with lower taxes. They are even leaving entire countries.

How Much Do the Top 1 Percent Pay of All Taxes?
Soak the Rich, Lose the Rich

The establishment has passed laws to try to financially punish the rich from renouncing their citizenship, leaving the country and taking their wealth with them. Its their version of the Berlin wall. Yeah, here in America.

California businesses and the "wealthy" people that run them were already leaving the state before minimum wage laws were a reality. It's a nice state, but it ain't that nice.

Nah, Elon "federal welfare queen" Musk is fat and happy here in the peoples republic, raking in federal booty with both hands.

Same with the Silicone Valley billionaires, pushing for Communism for the little people..

I'm curious if our resident Marxist posters think this is enough. Bill Maher even stated his dissatisfaction of the ever increasing tax burden on people like him a couple of years ago after California raised the top income tax rate again.

The tax man cometh, and California rich – getting richer – pay most

Since the top 1% has about 30 to 40 times the income of the median population of California, and that doesn't even count their capitol gains which is concentrated in the top 1% and mostly non existent for the median population, I'd say the top 1% is getting off pretty damn easy.
So, what would you say is "fair"? 50%, 75%, 90%? These have all been fact at one time and place or another. Do your research before you form an opinion on a topic. While it is true that the top EARNERS pay the brunt of the taxes, those with the most MONEY do not. Know who it is you are advocating higher taxes for, it could be your employer, who may have to choose between maintaining a profitable business and keeping you employed.

This thread is about the 1%. Read the title. The 1% did fine under all those higher tax rates.

Yup. The rich should pay for everything and the poor?? Well they pay for nothing but get as much as they can from the Govt. I.E. the taxpayers of America.

What an insult to the poor when the rich protest the amount of taxes they pay and the poor?? Well they pay for nothing.
The reall insult is to imply that the poor can't make it on their own. How insulting to tell someone that they are incapable of supporting themselves.

If the shoe fits wear the bastard.

Cali used to be the State everyone wanted to live in.

Now its the State loads are leaving.

Wonder how long it will take the idiots in Sacramento to realize that the minimum wage they are so happy to put in effect will be another nail in Cali's coffin???

If Michigan is an example the left will go right on destroying the state until its completely destroyed. You would expect the idiot liberals to not kill the goose that laid the golden egg but you have to understand its kill or be killed in their world, its everyone for themselves, get mine screw you.

Just did some quick google searches, found some interesting figures:

So who is really not paying their "fair share"?

The ruling democrats in California don't give a fuck about anyone but the Silicone Valley Billionaires.

Interesting, considering the top tax bracket in California kicks in at $80,000

Which is what they just raised minimum wage to......
The law of uninteded consequenses?

Or is it?

They're all moving to Colorado. Please stop moving to Colorado.......

People fleeing California are busy wrecking the states they are fleeing to.
Literally. Co. started holding driving classes for them, cause you know, snow....

I did read the title. What makes you say that? Anything to back-up your claims?

The real question is how much wealth do they have . If they have 90% of the wealth then they should be paying 90% of the taxes .
