The world is full of vastly different people with vastly different moralities and histories. A LOT of people think that the rest of the world has western sensibilities. They do not.

Maintaining national security is a nasty business. It involves clandestine actions, sabotage (financial, technological, industrial, etc...), and killing (call it murder if you like). That is the way it is, and has always been. That may pop some lib's reality cherry. However, this effort keeps us safe to live in and enjoy the most wealthy country in the world that allows its citizens to enjoy more civil liberties than anywhere else in the world.
