This 4th of July I get to pat myself on the back.

Also someday I'd love to take a stab at homemade wine -
blackberry or peach maybe. A friend of mine up near Hope,Ar. (yes- Bill Clinton's
hometown, famous for watermelon festivals, and ww2 hemp rope -Hempstead County actually...)....anyway my friend makes some really killer wine - grows his own grapes and berries. Two summers ago his strawberry kiwi was around 24% alcohol ( over 2x more than normal wine) but it tasted like fruit juice....I was slightly staggering on 2 -12 oz bottles.

Well, IF alcoholism isn't an issue for you, then you should consider trying mead. If it IS a problem for you, then may I suggest a nice soda?

Speaking of soda, sugar and caffeine they say are as hard to get off as anything for some people. I've also read that Sweet n Low, aspartame,Splenda, nutrisweet and everything else they want to call these artificial sweeteners are not the answer --in fact may make people fatter because it makes the liver produce more fat cells....along with dozens of other side-effects that us guinea pigs will pay for.

I live in the country so I really should BEE making my own honey.

Tobacco comes in many decadent forms tailored to the sophisticated taste that you've probably never even seen nor heard of.
I'll stick with weed.

How are you going to stick with weed, the entire point of your thread was that you gave up smoking 10 years ago! o_O
Pot is not poisonous.

Never heard of anyone wrecking their car, forgetting what someone told them 5 minutes ago or becoming schizophrenic from smoking a cigarette. But you are obviously now just trying to rationalize your cannabis addiction.

Well, for some people, artificial sweeteners ARE the answer, because their bodies can't handle refined sugar.

July 4th, 2019 marks my 10th anniversary of quitting smoking I'm very proud to say.
And I quit drinking alcohol one year ago August 1st.

I fell off the ciggi wagon so I smoke again, but good deal. Happy 4th.

Long story short about how I quit....

Back in 2009, I took off work for a minor out-patient hernia repair surgery and when I awakened from the anesthesia, the surgeon informed me that I had 'breathing issues' so they had to use a respirator or whatever through the procedure I guess.. Anyway, I figure his first question would be " Do you smoke ?" , but all he did was gave me some inhalers and recommended a 'respiratory specialist'.

Well, I knew what to do--after 31 years of smoking it was time to quit. So I tapered down over the next few weeks and smoked my last Camel on July 3rd . ( never saw a specialist or used the inhalers) Chewed the nicotine gum for about 5 weeks and never looked back. It took about months before I would try to smoke any weed (which I still do in moderation ) or drink alcohol , but in the last 10 years I have not been sick since I got off tobacco, and at 57 I truly still feel around 40.

Don't know if that can help anyone else. The hardest part is in your mind ( will power ) after the first week.

I smoked weed in the stairwells of the world trade center in 1976* and in 1980 -81.
*Also on the roof of the south tower in '76 with my cousin Jesse. We threw paper airplanes off the side up there too--it was crazy exciting for a 15 year old kid.

This image is taken from Staten Island I believe, and really gives you a great perspective of just how big the Twins were with the statue in the foreground. But unless you've been there and experienced it you can't truly know what it was like. One of my coolest experiences was the view from the plane circling into LaGuardia at dusk when the skyline was lit up and an orange purple sunset in the background.

Such a shame. Nothing wrong with smoking or drinking at all if you just smoke and drink the right stuff and in moderation!
Yeah, but doing them in moderation is the key....Angelo, CONGRATULATIONS! Your lungs are thanking you!

What are you thanking him for? THE GUY IS STILL SMOKING! All he did is give up cigarettes, he is still smoking tons of tar and toxin-laden pot. :auiqs.jpg:

Hey toobfreak. Some fun facts for you to ponder...
Cannabis-Deaths-Annual-medical-marijuana-doctor-stats.png

Too bad that mainly reflects CIGARETTE SMOKERS. I only smoked them about 2 years in high school. They sucked. I'm a pipe and cigar smoker. 10,000X better. Hey! 4th of July! Great day to celebrate your quitting cigarettes! Here are a few of the GREAT fine cigars you've probably never tasted including a few I had special imported into the country. People kill for these things:
