Clinton fights tears: "It's not easy"

Exhausted and facing the prospect of losing the second test of her primary campaign, Hillary Rodham Clinton fought back tears as her voice broke at the close of a sedate event in a Portsmouth coffee shop.

She expressed the sheer difficulty of heading out to the trail each day — "It's not easy," she said — and suggested she faced "pretty difficult odds."

And with audible frustration and disbelief, she drew the contrast between her experience and Sen. Barack Obama's that suggests that her campaign's current message -- the question of who is ready -- matches her profound sense that she alone is ready for the job.

"Some of us know what are going to do on day one, and some of us haven’t thought that through enough," she said.

The question was innocuous:

"As a woman I know it’s hard to get out of the house and get ready," asked Marianne Pernold, a local freelance photographer. "Who does your hair?"

Clinton began by talking about her hair — she has some help — but moved to talk more generally about the campaign.

"It’s not easy, it’s not easy, and I couldn’t do it if I just didn’t passionately believe it was the right thing to do," she said.

"I have so many opportunities for this country. I don’t want to see us all fall back," she said, her voice breaking in the last phrase.

"This is very personal for me," she said to supportive applause from the small gathering, at which she'd been discussing policy around a table for an hour. "It’s not just political, it's not just public — I see what's happening. We have to reverse it."

"Some people think elections are a game — it’s about who’s up and who's down," she said. "It's about our country's future, it's about our kids' future — it's really about all of us together."

"And some of us put ourselves out there and do this against some pretty difficult odds, and we do it each one of us because we care about our country," she said.

"Some of us are right and some of us are wrong. Some of us are ready and some of us are not. Some of us know what are going to do on day one, and some of us haven’t thought that through enough," she said.

"When we look at the array of problems that we have, and the potential for it really spinning out of control — this is one of the most important elections America's ever faced," she concluded.

The questioner, Pernold, said she'd come to the event "smitten" by Obama, but that she's now torn. "Showing that emotion — I really find it refreshing," she said.

Yep, Hillary's feeling sorry for herself because so far the voters are not buying her claims of inevitability, electability, experience, etc. Must be gut-retching to see all those "opportunities" she thought probable for herself just slipping away. Seems she has not only a "vast right-wing conspiracy" problem, but a "vast left-wing conspiracy" problem as well.

Evidently crying works among Democrat voters.

I wonder if crying will work too if Congress doesn't do what she wants or with leaders like, say, Ahmandinejad? :eusa_think:

that and some voter fraud

New Hampshire District Admits Ron Paul Votes Not Counted
Clear Evidence Of Widespread Vote Fraud In New Hampshire

The head clerk of the New Hampshire town of Sutton has been forced to admit that Ron Paul received 31 votes yet when the final amount was transferred to a summary sheet and sent out to the media, the total was listed as zero. The fiasco throws the entire primary into doubt and could lead to a re-count.

There were several major vote fraud issues to arise out of the New Hampshire primary revolving mainly around Ron Paul and Barack Obama, who were both seemingly cheated out of third and first places respectively as a result of rigged Diebold voting machines and deliberate malfeasance in the counting of hand-written paper ballots.

George Bush senior cried. Bush junior cried. Romney cried. Cunningham cried.

I saw the video, I didn't see any tears. It's not even a real story, but what is today in cable "news?"

I think she has more balls than most of those running. I would rather see either Edwards or Obama.

Hillary gets slammed for getting teary eyed but nothing is said about Bush crying while standing before the Wailing Wall. .
Why is that?
And my statement is a fact. Look it up.

Richard Nixon actually shed tears and couldn't even speak for himself in 1960 after he lost the election to John F. Kennedy. And you crybabies want to complain about the genuine humility of Hillary? I think the lady really wants what is the best for America. Tears aside, she beats the drawers off anything I have seen yet!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you are perceived by some as being cold-hearted, it certainly would not hurt if you can force a few tears to flow. Does he really care or are those crocodile tears.

Clinton equals socialism. What you don't learn on these message boards! :eusa_boohoo: Wow!
What a load! Do you deliver, 82 marine? I could sure use some of that in our back yard.
Nixon went to Eisenhower when the accusations about his contributors came to light and he cried to Ike and begged to remain on the ticket. Ike had been about to dump him. Then we got the cloth coat speech and look where we ended.
So Hillary shows some fatique, some emotion, some sadness over the straits in which she and I find this country and some of you get all bent out of whatever shape you're in. We should all be crying over where this country was and where it is now thanks to the skills of George the Lesser.
