WASHINGTON — Republican Sen.-elect Scott Brown of Massachusetts says he opposes federal funding for abortions, but thinks women should have the right to choose whether to have one.
Brown tells ABC's "This Week" that he disagrees with his party's position that the
Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion should be overturned.
Brown says the abortion question is one that's best handled by a woman, her family and her doctor. He also says more effort needs to go into reducing the number of abortions in the U.S.

You're so full of shit.

I'd add more about the GOP being diverse but there really is no need to water down the main point here.

It's a good position to take, nationally. Most Americans don't want Roe v Wade overturned. Try winning Republican primaries with that position, though.

He won because he had a weak challenge in Mass. He has to run again for 2012 so he'd better stay somewhat moderate. Mass is likely to put up someone much stronger to take Teddy's seat back for the Democrats. They were humiliated but it won't happen twice.

He has a fine line to balance, he needs to keep Republicans happy and stay moderate too. It's going to be tough but he did ok on This Week. So far, so good.

The Right to life people looked at Brown, who is troublesome, and the record of Cokely, who was disastrous, put clothespins on their noses, held their breath, and voted for the lessor of the two weevils. They were not really all that happy about it either.

Brown made a set of promises to the folks of MA, which got him elected. Lets see if he fulfills the promises or not.

It doesn't matter if Republicans oppose abortion or not. They bring it up when running for office and then forget about it once they are elected

When Ronny courted this bunch of anti choice religious nuts it was a stroke of temporary genius.

Now it is a huge set of luggage with locks on it.

No one has the keys anymore and they still have to carry them arround forever.

The republicans can not win with this group stapped to their necks, they also can not win without them anymore.

They created this mess themselves.

Heres the numbers.

Cons have retreanched on the issue and the rest of the country has backed away from it.

Because the rest of the country watched the "cons" sit in Washington with complete power for six years and do nothing about the issue.

Most Americans that care are figuring the racket out. It will be funny to watch the cons try and re-embrace this issue.

I mean, they only had the house, senate, executive, and 7/9 SCOTUS appointees from 2000-2006, what could they have done?

Abortion and guns are taken out every four years as a political issue. Once the voting is done, nothing is done about them. Both are sacred cows
