    how can a conservative defend:

-raising Fed spending 83% over 8 years, when your Dem predecessor raised it just 32%
-Expanding socialized medicine at a faster rate than any Pres since LBJ through Medicare Drug
    -Sarbanes-Oxley regs on small business
-increasing government hiring over the rate of your Dem predecessor, while failing to address zero private sector job growth

W was by far the most fiscally liberal Pres we've had since Johnson

Obama would like to be, but it is getting stopped by a GOP congress. So if I'm fiscally conservative, seems I'm better off with a Dem pres getting gridlocked up with a combative congress than having a GOP pres spend money like there's no tomorrow.

Conservatives cannot justify that unless the spending may have increased on a necessary war.

Have you seen a true conservative defend this? Most conservatives that I know or read have never, ever, defended Bush's fiscal policies and spoke loudly about it DURING his administration as well as after. I think the reason most people overlook that is because they remember people defending Bush on Iraq and Afganistan and confuse that support with supporting ALL of Bush's policies...which is not, and has never been the case for most conservatives.

    Note the highlighted part.

I do not make a habit of engaging in political discussions with people who have no hooks in reality.

30% of republicans still though Bush was doing a great job in his last year as president.
And from the number/percentage of republicans that supported bush for most of his 2 terms I can conclude that few republicans are real conservatives.
